Selections for NCAA BB 12/09/09 LOCKS:
TAKE NEW MEXICO LOBOS -4.5 vs. San Diego Toreros: This game is being played at the Jenny Craig Pavilion on the campus of San Diego and begins at 10:00 P.M. EST.
EVALUATION: The Toreros come into this game with a 4-5 SU mark, and have lost 4 games in a row, and with the undefeated LOBOS coming to town, it looks like #5 in a row is quickly on the horizon. In their last 4 games they have an appalling 30% shooting percentage from the field, and have lost 3 of those 4 games by over 7 pts. The Lobos have a rebounding avg. of 6 more per game average, and 5 less turnovers, and 5 more assists per game average than the Torerors. We see this as a very good reason why this should bring home the ATS cash for the Lobos who are 7-1 ATS, and 2-0 ATS on the road. Steve Alford has a very good group of young men who are averaging right at 90 points on the road and have an average margin of defeat of 17.6 pts per game. We really like this game, and don’t see how San Diego can run with this very good Lobo team who beat a fairly descent California team less than a week ago by 8.
PROJECTION: NEW MEXICO 76 SAN DIEGO 64
TAKE CS FULLERTON TITANS +14 vs. San Diego State Aztecs. The game is being played at Viejas Arena on the Campus of San Diego State, and begins at 10:00 PM EST
EVALUATION: These two teams matchup pretty well, and there really is no big advantage that we can see that would cause the Aztecs to be this big a favorite. The Titans have had one bad game on the road when they had to travel over to the Central Arkansas, but other than that, they have been in every game either winning, or dropping by 1 pt on the road. They even have a big profile win over UCLA back on the 16th of November that was part of ESPN’s 24 hour of hoops coverage. The 6-2 Aztecs are a good team, we just don’t think their this good to be laying this big a number. Fullerton has a slight rebounding edge per game so we see no reason why they cannot cover this spread
PROJECTION: SAN DIEGO ST 66 CS FULLERTON 63
TAKE HARVARD CRIMSON +11.5 vs.Boston College Eagles. This game is being played at the Conte Forum on the campus of Boston College and is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm EST
EVALUATION: These two 6-2 SU squads been playing some pretty good basketball, and even though the level of competition has been slightly tougher for the Eagles, we like the Crimson to come into this game and cover this fairly large spread. After winning 3 in a row, the Crimson dropped their last contest to the highly ranked UCONN Huskies. You could actually walk from Harvard to BC in less time than hour, being that they are only just over 5 miles apart. These teams have played three times in the past with BC winning two of those, and each time the Eagles were 17 or 17 ½ point favorites. Just last season Harvard actually beat the Eagles by a 82-70 score, and we look for gym to be a rockin when these two cross town opponents get together tonight.
