Wednesday's play
10 Dime -- MARLINS (Johnson) -1 1/2 runs over Mets (Pelfrey)
MARLINS
NOTE: List only Johnson as Florida's starting pitcher
Florida ace Josh Johnson (12-3, 2.99 ERA) struggled in his last outing, giving up four runs and seven hits in just 4 1/3 innings at Houston, but that's not scaring me any heading into his start tonight against the Mets.
The All-Star right-hander is 6-0 with a 2.05 ERA in eight starts against New York, including 3-0 with a 1.63 ERA in four outings in Miami.
Johnson has made 20 quality starts in 25 outings this season, so I expect him to bounce back nicely tonight, especially with the Mets going through a nightmare season.
New York, which has 12 players on the disabled list, will send Mike Pelfrey (9-8, 4.67) to the mound. The right-hander allowed two runs and six hits in six innings Friday in a 4-2 victory over Philadelphia, but he has struggled on the road this year.
Pelfrey is 4-5 with a 5.93 ERA in 10 outings away from home, including going 0-3 with an 8.33 ERA in his last three. He is also just 1-5 with a 5.36 ERA in nine starts against the Marlins.
Florida should have no problem in this one, especially if Johnson is back on top of his game. Take the Marlins on the run line.
