Miami Heat (179') at Atlanta Hawks (-5') - 8:05 p.m. EST
If there's one team that depends on one player the most it's the Miami Heat with Dwyane Wade. And the bad news for the Heat is that their superstar is ailing big time. Back spasms greeted him unexpectedly Monday morning and it showed that night as he missed 15 of 26 shots including eight of nine from behind the arc. His scoring is down in this series from the regular season as is his FG% shooting and FT attempts. He's also averaging five turnovers a game and getting inconsistent help (Miami's bench scored zero field goals in the Heat's lackluster Game 4 loss). Wade's back is very tight and he's in pain. He'll go tonight for certain, but bad backs don't heal overnight and Wade spent all of Tuesday in the training room. The already thin Heat are also now officially without backup forward Jamario Moon (sports hernia). Mario Chalmers ands Michael Beasley are too inexperienced for this type of Game 5 situation on the road and who knows which D. Cook will show up.
The Hawks have regained the edge in this series thanks to a standout defensive effort Monday night. Mike Bibby has been in this spot before and advanced. J. Johnson has yet to produce this series, but he's do and others like J. Smith, A. Horford and Zaza Pachulia (12 pts, 18 rebounds Monday) know the time is now after bowing to the Celtics in seven games last year in the first round. Even F. Murray off the bench is able to provide instant offense for this Atlanta team that blew out the Heat in Game 1, but totally mailed in a flat effort in game 2 at home. Look for an effort more similar to the series opener Wednesday. They're 32-11 SU at home and all four games in this series have been decided by double digits. This series looks to be going seven games from my vantage point, but tonight it's all Atlanta as the Hawks take care of business at home against a gimpy Wade and the thin and inexperienced Heat.
