If buying a half point was a profitable thing, the house would not allow it. In order for it to be profitable the game has to land on the spread or be within a half point of the spread a minimum of 5% of the time... Which it does not. But even if it was profitable to buy the first hook for an extra 10%...then why not keep buying another hook for another 10%. If the first hook is profitable then the next and the next should be. Why not just buy 4 points for 80% extra? Its because deep down they know its a losing proposition

In the NFL I buy 1/2 a point on 3 and 7... Unless the price is more than -125 ... Been doing it for about 3 or 4 years. It is well worth it.
