PLAYER'S ADVANTAGE Scott Rickenbach’s NBA 2* (Top Play) Golden State Warriors (-) @
Washington @ 7:05 PM ET – We felt certain we were going to get
exceptional line value here and that is precisely how things have
worked out today. Because Washington just fired their head coach, and
there is a history of teams “rising to the occasion” after a firing,
this game opened up in a much different position from where it should
be. Although this line already made a money move on the Warriors
there is still a lot of line value with this play on Golden State.
That’s because the opening number on this game was based on the fact
that the public money would come pouring in on Washington in their
first game with their new head coach. The big problem for the Wizards
here is personnel based, it certainly was not entirely tied to just
the coaching. Washington has dealt with player injuries and, as a
result, they just can’t put a competitive team on the floor each
night. That’s why the Wizards have won just one game this season and
a coaching change isn’t going to fix all that overnight. Conversely,
Golden State has already addressed their internal problems as they
got rid of Harrington and now Crawford, from the Knicks, will make
his Warriors debut tonight.
The Warriors were already starting
to play better and, although they came up short at Philadelphia on
Sunday, this team actually played well defensively. We feel that
Coach Nelson is happy with his group of players now as he’s got a
good mix of some veterans as well as some young talent and this team
has been playing hard and doing the little things that can win them
basketball games. Philadelphia pulled away late in that game on
Sunday but the Wizards won’t be so fortunate tonight. Washington has
been hurt badly by having to play without Gilbert Arenas and Brendan
Haywood. Coach Eddie Jordan is gone but it’s the same struggling
group of players that remain and that have not been getting the job
done on the defensive end. The Warriors, especially with Crawford now
on board, will expose the Wizards here, and get a big road win as
Washington drops to 1-11 on the season. Play Golden State minus the
points as a Top Play selection.
