HOME TEAM IN CAPS
Tennessee –1.02 over VANDERBILT
These two pretty much have identical overall records but that’s all they have that’s similar, as the Vols are just so much better then the Commodores and it might not be close. In fact, the Vols might be the class of the SEC and in the end, this team will be right there and they could also be an Elite Eight squad. In terms of strength of schedule, these are not close in that department either. The Vols have played three ranked teams already (Georgetown, Gonzaga and Marquette) not to mention games against Kentucky, Kansas and South Carolina. Tyler Smith is a monster and up front Wayne Chism is a big body with great talent. Keep your eye on J.P. Prince, as he’s looking better with each passing game. The Vols have as many as seven guys that can produce. As for the Commodores, well, they really don’t have a notable win all season. They have four guys averaging double figures but that’s a bit skewed when you consider its schedule. Vandy’s first 15 games were against a slew of marshmallows that included Morehead State, Middle Tennessee State, Central Arkansas, Drake, Virginia Commonwealth, Illinois-Chicago, Alabama A&M, South Florida, Tennessee Tech, Furman, St. Francis (PA) and Massachusetts. When they played Georgia Tech and Illinois they lost them both and they also lost by 19 to Illinois-Chicago. The Commodores have beaten nobody, they’ve lost to teams that aren’t in the Vols class and this is absolutely the best team they’ll face to date. This is a short trip for the Vols and frankly, they should put away this team early and not let up. Play: Tennessee –1.02 (Risking 3.06 units to win 3).
