THE WINNING ADDICT
OVER 8.5 runs St. Louis/Florida -110 (Risk 4.4 units to win 4 units) 7:05 P.M. EST
While I am a big Clay Hensley fan, this St. Louis team will not be hung over after a very emotional series in Milwaukee, and I expect them to come out swinging tonight. Kyle Lohse has really struggled lately, even though he won his last outing vs Chicago. The Cards scored 13 runs for Lohse, and since he is marginally better than AJ Burnett, he was able to find a way to pitch 5 innings and pick up a victory. Hensley has been very good as a starter for Florida, but I don’t like all this right-handed power against him that St. Louis has. Lohse should keep his team in the game, but I don’t think he will be able to kep the hot-hitting marlins down. OVER 8.5 to win 4 units.
Cleveland Indians +153 (Risk 3 units to win 4.59 units) 7:05 P.M. EST
I really respect Justin Masterson as a pitcher, and while his team is really having problems scoring runs right now, this Indians team is desperate for a win, and they’ve been very close to one the last 2 games at Fenway. Their bullpen should get most of the night off with Masterson, as he goes very deep into the game, and I am just not sold Eric Bedard can be successful in big spots. He has never pitched in a playoff race, and he has only been on 1 team that finished above .500. With that said, I just don’t think he is that great of a pitcher. This Cleveland team has a chance to pick up a game after Detroit lost this afternoon, so this is that much bigger for them. I love this value when I feel like we have the far superior pitcher. Risk 3 units.

I really Phil Humber as a pitcher, but with the Yankees lineup hitting the way they are, I’m not sure he has what it takes to keep them in check tonight. Ivan Nova is good, but not great, but as long as he can keep the ball down, I can’t see the Sox scoring more than 3 runs tonight. This Yankees bullpen is as strong as can be, and with the way both of these teams are playing, I think this price is worth a play for 3 units.

It felt like just yesterday when the Bucs were in first place and they started to decline after that extra inning game that they were robbed by the ump on. The Pirates are still a good team - they just have faced some of the best pitching in baseball over the last two weeks. Today, they will get a break as Lopez is not a great pitcher. The Pirates have the pitching advantage with the starter, McDonald, at home and they have the better bullpen as well. Look for the Pirates to break out tonight. Take Pittsburgh.

The Cubs have some pretty hot hitters, in Castro, Barney, Ramirez, Pena & Byrd. I'm not sure who we would say is hot on the Pirates right now.
