WISCONSIN GREEN BAY (-2) over Loyola Chicago
Rotation #520 – 5 pm Pacific
Green Bay has dialed up their defensive intensity recently (35.9% FG allowed their last 3 games) and the Phoenix are a better team right now than a struggling. Loyola-Chicago squad that lost by double-digit margins as home favorites in their last two games. I’ll lean with Wisconsin Green Bay as a small home favorite.
BOISE STATE (+2 ½) over Utah State
Rotation #554 – 7:15 pm Pacific
Boise State has been a surprise in coach Leon Rice’s first year at the helm and this is a huge test for the Broncos. Boise applies to a 30-4 ATS home underdog momentum situation so breakthrough win would be no surprise. My ratings favor Utah State by 3 points, so I’ll lean with Boise State at +2 or +2 ½ and I’d take Boise in a 2-Star Best Bet at +3 or more.
CALIFORNIA (+1) over Washington State
Rotation #558 – 7:30 pm Pacific
Cal is a better team since cold shooting freshman gunner Gary Franklin quit the team. Franklin averaged more shots than anyone for the Bears and made just 29.7% of those shots while also converting only just 44% of his free throw attempts. It’s not surprising that Cal suddenly improved after Franklin quit the team prior to last week’s road trip to Arizona, in which the Bears nearly upset Arizona (lost by 2 as a 13 point dog) and won straight up as a dog at Arizona State. Replacing Franklin’s scoring opportunities with the scoring efficiency of the rest of the team would make Cal’s offense 2.4 points better and my ratings favor Cal by 2 points in this game after that adjustment. I’ll lean with Cal as an underdog in this game.
