Where the action is: Giants at Cowboys action report

Sunday Night Football kicks off with a battle of NFC East foes as the New York Giants travel to Jerry World (now AT&T Stadium) to face the Dallas Cowboys.

America's Team has had a heck of time covering the spread in their current digs (11-21 ATS). Not only that, but the G-Men have been a particular thorn in their side and are 4-0 both against the spread and straight up when they play there. The Giants were 29-24 victors there in last season's Week 8 matchup.

We talk to Mike Perry, an oddsmaker at SportsBook.ag, about the action on the first Sunday nighter of the NFL season.

New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys - Open: -3, Move: -3.5

The fact that the Giants have had the Cowboys' number in Dallas doesn't seem to scare off sharp action, however.

"I didn’t think we would move off -3 on this game," Perry told Covers. "But on Monday we got sharp action on Dallas, so moved them to -3.5 (-105). 55 percent of money is on the Cowboys at -3.5."

The total for this game opened at 49 and these teams have played 'over' in four straight games in Dallas, including 'over' the 48 point total last season. Sharp action has since moved that number.

"We opened the total at 49 and got sharp action on Friday, so we've moved to the current number of 50," says Perry. "77 percent of money is on the 'over'."

As far as the moneyline is concerned, the Giants are getting 60 percent of the moneyline cash at +150.

Larry Ness' 10* NFL Division G. O. Y. (1st of 8 TY!)
My 10* NFC South Game of the Year is on the NO Saints at 1:00 ET.

Bounty-Gate forced New Orleans’ head coach Sean Payton to miss all of the 2012 season, meaning this Week 1 contest will be his first game on the sidelines for the Saints since the team lost a thrilling 2011 Divisional Round game 36-32 at San Francisco. There can be little doubt that he's thrilled to be back, as is the entire Saints team that he is. The the schedule-maker, with a flair for the dramatic, has New Orleans opening at home against the team’s chief division rival, the Atlanta falcons, who not only won the NFC South last season but also owned the NFC’s best record at 13-3.

The Falcons are coming off an 0-4 preseason but no one thinks that is all that big of a deal. However, the Falcons weren’t able to beat the Saints last year here in New Orleans (lost 31-27 as a one-point favorite) and let me point out that back in 20011 (the last time things were “normal” for the Saints), the Saints walloped the Falcons 45-16 in New Orleans! Note that New Orleans went 8-0 SU and ATS at home in 2011, winning their home games by an average margin of 42-19. Yes, the Saints allowed the most yards in NFL history last year (7,042) but Rob Ryan has to improve that unit this year, doesn’t he?

Atlanta is considered the team to beat in the division after going 13-3 last season to earn the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs for the second time in three years. Head coach Mike Smith and QB Matt Ryan finally earned their first postseason victory after three defeats by beating Seattle but Atlanta fell one game short of the Super Bowl by blowing a 17-point lead in a 28-24 loss to the 49ers in the conference title game, at home. Ryan's 56 wins are the most by a quarterback in his first five seasons in NFL history but note that Ryan is 1-4 at the Superdome. "We know it's going to be a tough challenge for us down there, (it) always is," he said.

Ryan’s right and I believe Brees has all the motivation in the world in this game. After besting the Falcons 31-27 in New Orleans in Week 10 last year, the Saints lost in Atlanta 23-13 in Week 13, as Brees threw five interceptions for the first time in his career and saw his NFL-record streak of 54 games with a touchdown pass end. New Orleans slumped to a 7-9 record through its ‘nightmare’ 2012 season, ending its run of three straight playoff appearances. However, if there’s one thing we’ve learned about this division (NFC South) since the league expanded to 32 teams for the 2002 season, is that NO team has repeated as division champs in that span!

With that in mind, isn’t it reasonable to believe that the Saints are poised to replace Atlanta as this year’s NFC South champs? After all, the Saints are 10-2 SU against the Falcons with Payton and Brees together, with the QB throwing for 26 TDs and 11 INTs. Bottom line is this. New Orleans has taken four of five and 11 of the past 14 matchups in the series. Laying a FG at home with the Saints is too tempting to pass up!

For those that have had issues with the pages getting stuck and not moving forward:

It is likely you are using internet explorer. Internet Explorer has issues with this site, it's been that way since the upgrade. If you are dead set on continuing to use internet explorer then this step will help you.

In the upper left where you see the toolbar and the url to the right of that you will see a magnifying glass and to the righ of that what looks like a ripped piece of paper. When you get stuck you need to click on the ripped piece of paper looking symbol. This is what is called compatibility mode.

Once you click that, your page will refresh and you will be able to see the pages that you weren't able to see. This typically starts when topics go more than 6 pages. I have no idea why it does this but Internet explorer just isn't a great browser to use anymore.

Suggest you use, Chrome, Firefox or any other browser but IE.

I explained this yesterday and would've earlier today but the site was very slow and inoperable for a period of time with errors coming up. It took me 20 minutes to post the play I purchased and after it finally went through I gave up trying to post this.

Hope this helps those that experience this in the future.

those aren't on page 6! post #157 & 159 are on page 7!

Not for me they aren't, they are on page 6. I am currently seeing post #205 on page 7 which was my last post prior to this. I see 30 posts per page. Perhaps settings are different for everyone?? Strange.

They are on 7 for me as well. I use firefox and page 6 was down for a little bit, but it came up after a 5 minute wait. So it's not just internet explorer.

Under General Settings in the Settings area, my posts to view at one time is set to the max of 30. I am not sure what the default setting is on the forum, that's probably why my page 6 may be different than others.
