Yesterday's Results: 5-3 (+$270), 5-5 on opinions. It wasn't a great day by any stretch of the imagination, but we avoided an opening weekend disaster and we did lose 4 games by a total of 13 points. UCLA/Texas A&M UNDER unfortunately was our first bad beat of the season.

Late money has come in today on the Fighting Irish and most of it has come from the public. The wise guys haven't touched it yet although many of them bet Texas at +4/+4.5 a week or so ago after the 6 ND players were arrested. I know many of you are going to say, Brad how in the heck are you going to downgrade Texas today after you gave them out as a 2-star in the newsletter? Well, number one when I was scrambling to get that newsletter done on Tuesday, word was just coming out on how banged up the Longhorns were on the OL. Second, I don't like that Texas has become a popular upset pick by the national media. While I don't let it effect my handicap usually, when all the figure heads (particularly ESPN) are picking an underdog to win outright, it's usually wise to go the other way.
Also I'm not going to lie, I am satisfied with the weekend so far and would hate to see us give some of that money back to the books/bookie tonight. The hay is in the barn as far as I'm concerned because Week 1 can be one of the toughest weeks to handicap. I still like Texas and think they cover and possibly win straight up, but I've already bet them earlier this week and I don't feel there's any reason to double-down on them tonight just because the line has moved one point. If you're feeling lucky, a small wager on Texas (+175) on the money line might be worth it and since it's the only game in town, if you had to get involved on the total, I would lean with the UNDER.
(211/212) Ole Miss vs Florida St in Orlando, FL (-5, 59.5) 8:00pm ET.
Kickoff Weather: 80 Degrees. Clear 5% chance of rain. Wind: NE at 10 mph.
The public and a majority of the wise guys are backing the Seminoles here and I'm thinking this line goes to 6 tomorrow. However, I'm going to pass on the side as I don't like going up against Hugh Freeze who is the best ATS coach in the country (43-20-1 ATS in his career). You also have a senior SEC QB in Ole Miss' Chad Kelly taking on an inexperienced redshirt freshman QB in FSU's Deondre Francois. I do like the UNDER though as you have two of the best defenses in the country and these big national hotly contested games so far have trended towards the UNDER (OU/Houston, LSU/Wisc, Clemson/Auburn and besides late scoring UCLA/A&M).
