Incredible Stats of the Day
•Oakland Abysmal Against AL East Opposition
Let's face it, the Oakland A's are a pretty terrible ball club across the board this season, but they have really struggled against clubs from the American League East. Heading into Sunday's contest against the Baltimore Orioles, the A's have lost 14 of their last 17 ball games against AL East foes. The A's have dropped the first two against the O's, and were swept by the Toronto Blue Jays prior to visiting Baltimore. Oakland's last win against the AL East came against these Orioles back on Aug. 4 when they prevailed 5-0 at home. Baltimore is presently -166 with Wei-Yin Chen expected to start. Oakland (+153) is scheduled to hand the ball to Kendall Graveman.
•Braves Have Been Toxic For Bettors In Miller's Starts
Despite pitching reasonably well, the Atlanta Braves have gone 0-10 in the last 10 ball games started by Shelby Miller. The 24-year-old gets just 2.74 runs of support per start - the lowest in Major League Baseball heading into Sunday's action. Miller heads into Sunday's start with a 5-9 record but owns a 2.48 ERA and 1.17 WHIP - both numbers good enough to place him in the top 15 among NL starters in each category. The Braves host the Arizona Diamondbacks Sunday afternoon. Miller is expected to get the ball while the Dbacks are slated to counter with Rubby De La Rosa.
•Pirates Cashing Under Bets With Rackley Umpiring
Under wagers have gone 8-0 in the last eight Pittsburgh Pirates games that umpire David Rackley has worked behind home plate. Rackley is slated to work the dish when the Pirates visit the New York Mets Sunday afternoon. Included in the streak a pair of Buccos games this season. Rackley was calling balls and strikes when the Pirates lost to the Detroit Tigers 2-0 on April 14 and when Pittsburgh defeated the Miami Marlins 5-1 on May 26. Season to date, the Over/Under count 6-9 in Rackley's 19 games working behind home plate. Jeff Locke is scheduled to pitch for the Pirates while the Mets are expected to counter with Matt Harvey. The total is presently 7.
•Home Teams Hot When Dreckman Works The Plate
Home teams have posted a record of 5-0 in the last five ball games that umpire Bruce Dreckman has worked behind home plate. That's where Dreckman will be then the Philadelphia Phillies visit the Milwaukee Brewers Sunday afternoon. Dreckman has called balls and strikes in 12 games this season and home teams have gone 6-6 in those games. The last time a visiting team won with Dreckman behind the dish as on May 20 when the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Miami Marlins 6-1 in Florida. This will be Dreckman's first game behind home plate since June 20.
