Colorado at Detroit
Pick: Detroit -160

Colorado ended Detroit's six-game winning streak last game. That was a fluke and I really like the Tigers to rebound here with Dontrelle Willis on the mound. Detroit is 15-6 at home while Colorado has won just 10 of 25 of the road. The Rockies are just 2-15 the past two seasons on the road after a five-game stretch of hitting .225 or worse. The Tigers are 28-10 the past three seasons in interleague games. Jason Hammel has posted a 5.75 ERA in his last three starts and I think he's going to struggle quite a bit against this potent Tigers' lineup. I look for Detroit to bounce back with a win here.

Cleveland at Orlando
Play: Under 189.5

Both teams shot well in game 2 of this series and the final shot by LeBron James put the game just ‘over’ the total despite playing on pace for the ‘under’ the entire way. Orlando shot 48 percent in the game and nailed ten three-point shots while Cleveland shot 46 percent and added 21 points from the free throw line. The first game of the series also went over but both teams shot incredibly well in that game, with Orlando hitting 55 percent. The total has been adjusted higher still for game 3 but Orlando’s defense should step up back at home. The ‘under’ is 30-17 in games in Orlando this season and Cleveland has also been an ‘under’ team on the road. Four of six home playoff games for the Magic have stayed ‘under’ and 13 of the final 17 regular season games for the Magic played ‘under’. In the last five games Orlando has allowed just 90 points per game and Cleveland has allowed just 88 points per game. The defensive intensity should be enhanced for both squads given how the first two games of the series have played out.

Cleveland Cavaliers at Orlando Magic May 24 2009 8:30PM
PICK: under
Your pick will be graded at: 190.5 betED
EXPERT: Stephen Nover
REASON FOR PICK: From 184 all the way up into the 190 range the total has gone. That's what two overs during the first two games of this series can do.

This is just too much of an adjustment. The pace hasn't been anything special. The over has come in because the Cavaliers and Magic are shooting above 49 percent from the floor. That is not going to continue.

These teams play too good of defense. The Cavaliers finished in the top three in scoring defense, defensive field goal percentage and 3-point defensive field goal percentage. The Magic is a top-six defense.

The under has cashed 16 of the past 23 times when the Cavaliers have been an underdog.

Orlando is 22-10 to the under in its last 32 games, including going under six of the past seven times when favored.

This is a three-unit play for me.
