(838) 7* Wake Forest (-) over Clemson [6pm]
We watched every second of the first matchup this season, in Clemson, and Wake is simply a much, much better basketball team. We were taken by how much of a matchup edge they have over Clemson in just about every area, and with that in mind it made sense that they won the game by ten, even on the road. Making that win even more impressive, Wake was playing in the second of back to back road games, and they had just played Florida State a couple of days prior, and that is especially notable since Clemson HAD A FULL WEEK TO GET READY for the first contest and still got dominated. Here none of those edges (home, rest) exist for Clemson, and as such we feel strongly that Wake Forest will control this game as well, especially at night in front of rowdy fans and national TV in the home finale. Some numbers to consider here is that while both teams are solid offensively, Wake is much better on defense, especially perimeter defense where Clemson excels, as the Demon Deacons are allowing just 29.5% from long range on the season, and in the first game CU hit just five of 23 from long range. Also, Clemson is just 5-10 ATS vs ACC teams of this offensive class while Wake is 4-1 ATS in that same category, and WF is 9-0 SU/6-3 ATS in the series. Finally, Wake a very solid 73% from the line at home this year. So, talent, matchups, style of play, venue and situation all point towards Wake Forest here, and the final piece to the puzzle is that our Power Ratings show Wake as -9 in this contest. We look for Wake to roll, and they are our College Play of the Year!
Thanks, and Good Luck!
From what I understand 5* is their normal big play, so they're stepping out on the 7*..... don't hold me to that though
