Last night’s 9-3 win by St Louis is misleading as the game was 3-3 in the 12th before St Louis erupted for 6 runs. Bottom line is Pittsburgh ran out of pitchers and was forced to stay with slumping Nicasio who was beat like a piñata. Lorraine goes for Pittsburgh tonight and he has owned the Cardinals as in 15 starts against them his team is 11-4 as he has posted an ERA of 2.45 and a WHIP of 1.06. In his 2 starts this year he has gone 13 innings allowing just 2 runs on 8 hits and struck out 20. Carlos Martinez goes for St Louis and he has a ERA of 4.89 and a WHIP of 1.48 in 6 lifetime starts against Pittsburgh. In his lone start this year he didn’t get out of the 4th inning.

We cashed last night with Cleveland as we faded the Angels in their 1st game back at home in a very bad scheduling spot. But now it’s game 2 and puts the Angels in a very good spot. Over the last 3 seasons the Angels are 30-12 at home vs AL Central opponents. The Angels the last seasons are 29-14 when they have 4 hits or less in the game before. Matt Shoemaker is on the mound for the Angels and in his last 4 starts has gone 7 or more innings in all 4 starts and has allowed just 8 runs total in those 4 starts. The most impressive part is the fact his strikeout to walk ratio is 37-0 in those 4 starts. Angels even the series.

    2016 Belmont Stakes
Exaggerator comes into the Belmont off of a most impressive race in the Preakness. We loved him in the Preakness as everything was set up perfectly for him to run big that day. He was going to get a good pace up front and the weather was just what the doctor ordered. Exaggerator always runs big in the mud and was able to run Nyquist down as we predicted. Now Exaggerator goes from the hunter to the hunted as he will be the horse with the target on his back. The belief is you want a big closer in the Belmont because of the 1 ½ mile distance. But the truth is that stone cold closers really don’t win this race that often because too often the fractions are slow because everyone is afraid of getting the distance and what happens is horses just off the early pace win the race. There are 2 horses who’s style is just that. #2 Destin and #5 Stradivari will both be just off the early pace which I feel is what will win this race. Destin comes in here fresh as he skipped the Preakness after finishing 6th in the Kentucky Derby. Destin hadn’t raced in 8 weeks leading up to the Derby and I feel was a little short going into that race. Ideally you would have liked to have had your last prep race 4 or 5 weeks before the Derby not 8 weeks. I expect a big improvement today racing off a more traditional 5 week layoff between races. Destin had 4 straight races where he posted record high Beyer figures before the Derby race. We haven’t seen this horses best yet as he has only 6 lifetime starts. I expect him to make a big jump today in the Preakness. The one true closer in the race that I do like is Suddenbreakingnews but my concern is he will be too far back and will have too slow of fractions on the front end to be able to make the ground up quickly enough. He will be charging at the end and must be put on the ticket. If the pace is honest up front I could very well see him pulling off the upset. I see this as a 4 horse race with #2 Destin, #11 Exaggerator, #4 Suddenbreakingnews and #5 Stradivari the only horses that can win this race. But in the end I feel the horse that wins this is #2 Destin.
#2 Destin is our Top Choice and we are betting him to Win-Place -Show
