Larry Ness' 10* PERFECT STORM-NBA (+$9,454 NBA s/Mar 1)
My 10* PERFECT STORM is on the Den Nuggets at 9:05 ET.
The Denver Nuggets, who have been plagued by several key injuries this season, will miss the playoffs for the first time since 2003 and are headed to the draft lottery However, that doesn't mean they've stopped trying to add to the win column. Following a 123-116 home win against Houston on Wednesday, Denver trailed by one in the closing seconds Thursday at the Warriors before Kenneth Faried hit a turnaround hook shot with a half-second to go for a 100-99 win that snapped a six-game road losing streak. After that dramatic victory, the Nuggets look to win a THIRD straight game for the first time in three months, tonight. They couldn’t ask for a better opponent (at least in the West), than the Utah Jazz.
The Jazz have been lottery-bound for a while behind the worst record in the Western Conference (24-55). Utah's struggles have been particularly glaring on the road, where its lost 12 of its last 13 and been outscored by 15.8 points in that span (4-8-1 ATS with the lone SU win coming at Philadelphia, when the 76ers were mired in their 26-game losing streak). Utah is just 3-19 SU over its last 22 games overall (5-14-3 ATS), in what’s going into the books as one of the most dismal seasons in franchise history.
"This is all about momentum for us going into next season," coach Brian Shaw said. "We've been talking (about) the way we're going to need to play, regardless of who's out there, and the effort that we need to compete every night. These guys can play with anybody if they play the right way." The Nuggets should SURELY remember that the last time they played the Jazz they lost 118-103 in Salt Lake City AND that the last time the Jazz visited the Pepsi Center, they upset the Nuggets 103-93, as 10 1/2-point underdogs.
Expect a Denver R-O-U-T!
