John Chang
Chang continues to dominate the world of pro hockey, netting another win last night to increase my record in that sport to 20-8! We're going to shift gears and move our attention to the college hoops matchups on this great saturday! Stop back tonight for my Super Bowl selections. Let's nab that 4th winning day in row! Good Luck. --NBA Selection coming in the afternoon --
CLEVELAND STATE VIKINGS -3 over Butler Bulldogs, 10 dimes
Just like I've been saying for a while now, and just as you probably already know, Butler's stranglehold on the Horizon League has been loosened considerably this year. Actually, they've completely lost it. Last game's loss to perennial punching bag Youngstown State is more than likely going to be the straw that broke Butler's back. That's three losses in a row, and 4 losses in their last 5 games, and this proud program is already looking forward to next year. Much of their shortcomings are on the defensive side of the court, as they are a far cry from the tough defense that led Butler to so many conference titles. Despite their woes, the Bulldogs did manage to beat up on the Vikings last month. With that said, I believe Cleveland State is ready to get some whole-hearted revenge on Butler, and this matchup at home with them is just the way to do it. Cleveland State is on a six game tear, hot off a win against Valparaiso, and surely they've had this showdown with the Bulldogs circled on their calendar. Butler is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road contests, while Cleveland St. is 13-0 SU at home this season, and they've covered in their last 2 home games. Look for the Vikings to come out guns-blazing, and to cement their new-found position at the top of the Horizon league.
Duquesne Dukes -7.5 over ST. BONAVENTURE BONNIES, 10 dimes
I've taken the Bonnies a few times this year, as they play hard-nosed basketball on the road, and are a good bet to cover the number. But at home, they've been the same old mediocre program, backed-up by a 2-4 ATS home record. The Dukes on the other hand, have been playing lights-out home and away, racking up an impressive 10-2 record against the number this season. What's even more amazing is the fact that all 16 of Duquesne's victories have come by double digits. The Dukes will make shutting down Andrew Nicholson the top priority, and they also have the right backcourt to stifle the improving guard play from St. Bonaventure. The Bonnies are going to have their hands very full with the 10th ranked scoring attack of Duquesne, and with one of the weakest defenses in the country, the Bonnies will probably fall behind by 15 or so by halftime. There's many other things that the Dukes do much better than the Bonnies, such as sharing and protecting the ball, but just take Chang's word for it...this game is gonna be ugly.
Colorado State Rams -4.5 over WYOMING COWBOYS, 10 dimes
The Cowboys have done a superb job of covering the number at home this year, but with their 6th loss in a row chalked up in the books, I don't see them as having the offensive firepower or the heart to stay within the number tonight. The biggest difficulty for them tonight is going to be keeping up with the scoring of the Rams, who average well over 70 points per game. Unfortunately for Wyoming, they just don't have the talent to do it. Colorado State has won and covered easily in the last three meetings between these two teams, and they've gone a stellar 6-1 ATS on the road this season. 4.5 points? Really? Take the much better team in Colorado St.
