VCU and W&M play Saturday night (7pm Eastern) in Williamsburg, Virginia. VCU lost to the Tribe last year in the CAA tourney by 56-54 as Linius Kisielius scored 23. VCU led that game by 28-22 at the half. A week before that game these two played at W&M and VCU dominated the game and led by 25-16 at the half. VCU's defense was able to shut them down. I watched the game from the second row and was able to see the VCU defense up close from Maynor on David Schneider to Larry Sanders underneath.
VCU has picked up some offense this year and even sat Maynor in some of one exhibition game to give the others some confidence on offense and it has helped. Kisielius is gone from W&M and they have picked up some athletic players (Brown, McDowell) to go with Schneider, Peter Stein and Danny Sumner. Sumner averages 20 ppg while Schneider scores 16 ppg. Everyone else is under 10 ppg.
VCU has led the last 3 years at W&M by 9, 10 and 21 points and even led at ECU by 4, a game that they lost in OT. This game is the CAA opener for both teams and VCU is off a nice home win in which Kirill Pishchalnikov scored 15 points and had 14 rb's. The Rams have played a decent schedule on the road vs. the Rams (of Rhode Island) and playing Vanderbilt in Cancun.
VCU should have quite a few fans there as the schools are about an hour apart. VCU still has Maynor to lead the way as well as Joey Rodriguez (ever notice how he looks like John Leguizamo?), Nixon, Burgess, Rozzell, Gwynn, Sanders, Kearse and Pishchalnikov.
I hope that VCU remembers their CAA tourney loss to W&M and jumps out to an early lead as they have done with Maynor playing on the road in Williamsburg.

The Bears had this game pegged on thier calender when the season started. Three words....Revenge, Revenge, Revenge... After last years 37-23 embarassing loss to this years winless Washington Huskies. Bears coach Jeff Tedford said "There's going to be a lot of motivation to redeem ourselves." Cal is also unbeaten this season at home. "Last year when it happened, I don't think we were ready mentally," Cal Senior LB Felder said. "To lose that way to Washington, that's not something you ever want to do again."Look for the Bears to dominate this game from the get go.

I love the value on this fight. De La Hoya's Fitness and age will factor into the bout.I don't think he could keep up with Manny every minute of every round. Oscar is 35, and hasn't scored a true knockout since 2000. His last six fights include three losses, going back to 2003. What's more, in his advanced years, De La Hoya has developed a tendency to stop using his best weapon — the jab — after six rounds. If an opponent like Steve Forbes can bust up De La Hoya's face, what can Pacquiao do? This will be a fast paced slugging match and Pacman will overwhelm the older De La Hoya with his stamina, Matrix Speed, tenacity and versatility mixing punches. With Mannys Trainer Freddie Roach in his corner who recently trained De La Hoya during his bout with Mayweather. There is no doubt in my mind that he is aware of Oscar's strenghs and weakneses and they will exploit that.
