3-Units (12:00 P.M. CST)
Surprisingly, Akron is at the top of the Mid American Conference in several offensive categories. Akron's quarterback, Chris Jacquemain is tied for 3rd with 12 touchdowns thrown, while Dennis Kennedy is 5th with 473 rushing yards. They also have the 3rd ranked receiver with Deryn Bowser and his 510 receiving yards. With all these offensive weapons in tact, why the 1-2 conference record? You guessed it, Defense, or lack of it. Akron is giving up a total of 405 yards a game, putting them in the bottom half of all defensive statistics. They will be facing Eastern Michigan's Andy Schmitt, who has thrown for only 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions on the season. Schmitt is coming off of a dreadful performance against Army, that saw him go 12-29 with only 138 passing yards. Eastern Michigan is a little better defensive thus far into the season, than Akron. The Eagles are giving up just 350 yards a game, but are allowing 30 points a game compared to Akron's 27. Both teams have Junior signal callers, but at this point in the season, Akron's Chris Jacquemain is clearly performing at a much higher level. Akron is 1-2 over their last 3 games, but their two losses came by a combined total of 6 points. Eastern Michigan on the other hand has lost 5 of 6 with 4 of those losses coming by 27 or more points. Let's side with the more predictable Akron team.
Take the Akron Zips -4 1/2 for 3-Units.
Thanks and Good Luck
