BONDI’S BEST BETS
WAKE FOREST (+6) over Clemson 12 P.M. ET
All of Harry Bondi’s “Steam
Team” clients remember back in September
when we released
Clemson (-7)
over Boston College as
our September 7-
Star College “Lock
of the Month.” The Tigers absolutely
dominated that game and ended up
winning 25-7. We went against BC
again this past week when we used Virginia
Tech (-13) in a 48-14 rout as our
October 7-Star “Lock of the
Month.” Since Clemson’s impressive
win over Boston College, the Tigers
have faltered big-time, losing outright
to TCU and Maryland. The main problem
for Clemson is Dabo Swinney, who
appears to be over matched as a head
coach. In the last two games, the
Tigers looked vastly under prepared
and Dabo isn’t great at making in-game
adjustments. As for Wake Forest, it’s
pretty simple to figure the Demon Deacons
out. Over the last eight-plus years
under head coach Jim Grobe, Wake
Forest has been a horrible favorite (16-
29 ATS) but always tough as an underdog
(32-21 ATS). That makes them an
easy play here catching some points
against a Clemson team that is beginning
to feel the noose tighten around
their head coach’s neck. WAKE 27-23
UTAH -16 vs. UNLV
We went against Utah last week as part
of our second-straight 3-0 Saturday
and Colorado State (+9) nearly pulled
off the outright upset as they led the
Utes 17-3 late in the third quarter before
losing 24-17, but still covering for
us. Part of the reason we went against
Utah was that we think they’re a bit
overrated, but they still have plenty of
firepower to get by a UNLV team that
is in complete disarray. UTAH 45-17
BAYLOR +3 vs. Iowa State
Despite the loss of starting QB Robert
Griffin, we like what we’ve seen from
freshman QB Nick Florence and Baylor
the last few weeks. The Bears ended up
getting blown out by Oklahoma last
week, but at the half it was a 14-7
game thanks to the Baylor running
game that put up 166 yards. If the
Bears can muster a similar effort here
against a banged-up Iowa State team,
they’ll win outright. BAYLOR 28-21
S.J. STATE +20 vs. Fresno St.
Fresno State is 2-10 ATS in its last 12
as a double-digit home favorite and it’s
a tough spot here as they make a quick
return from Hawaii. While on the Big Island,
the Bulldogs took advantage of a
Hawaii team that was down to its thirdstring
QB, but they can expect a much
tougher battle here against San Jose
State, which is beginning to get healthy
and features a veteran defense that is
just starting to gell. FRESNO 24-20
