40 DIMER - SYRACUSE - 2PM.....20 DIMER - TEXAS A&M - 2PM.....10 DIMER - LOUISVILLE 40 DIMER - SYRACUSE ORANGEMEN - 2PM

Let's face facts, the Golden Eagles are struggling right now, as they lose one of their top players in Dominic James for the season, and now they find themselves back home for their finale off losses to UConn, Louisville, and Pitt!!!

Just a brutal stretch, and the last pair of losses were on the road. Being at home hasn't helped much pointspread-wise, as Marquette is just 5-6-1 against the spread in their lined home games this year.

Syracuse could sure use a "quality" road outing, as the Orangemen have all too often packed the tent on the road too many times this year. The 'Cuse has won and covered 3 straight coming into this game, and they have won both previous series meetings against Marquette both straight up, and against the spread.

With Marquette off 3 very tough conference games, I expect them to be a little gassed in this one, and I expect the Orange to stay inside of the number.

20 DIMER - TEXAS A&M AGGIES - 2PM

Curious game here, as Missouri is playing this game to improve their stock come Sunday when they announce the Big Dance pairings, while the Aggies at 22-8 could sure use this win to imrprove their at-large resume.

To get the Aggs at the Reed Center at this price is a coup!

A&M has won their last 4, and better still is the fact the Aggies have won 4 in a row against the Tigers, and they have covered 7 in a row against Mizzou.

Missouri has done well for themselves on the road for the most part this year, but that 90-65 clunker they threw in the mix their last time on the highway has the G-Man worried they will pack it in today at College Station.

I am on the Aggies

GAME: Syracuse @ Marquette Mar 7, 2009 2:00PM
SPORT: College Basketball Picks
PICK: under
Offered at: 157.5
REASON FOR PICK: 4* #538 MARQUETTE/SYRACUSE Under
2:00 Eastern

We have gone to the well with Marquette Under in the post-Dominic James era with mixed results; an easy win at Louisville on Sunday, but a high * loss at Pittsburgh Wednesday night. We turn the cycle into a profit in this one, with the Wednesday defeat helping to bring particularly good value to the table.

While admittedly being on the road against two outstanding defenses is tough for any team, the offensive issues for the Golden Eagles without James were easy to see – they only shot 38.5 percent in those games, with 19 assists over 80 minutes. The downfall for our purposes at Pittsburgh was the size disadvantage around the basket, which the Marquette defense could not make up for, allowing a stunning 27-37 on Panther shots inside the arc. Now the former issues remain in play, and if anything become even stronger, while the latter disappears.

In Wesley Matthews and Jerel McNeal the Golden Eagles still have two capable play-makers, but each is at his best when slashing to the basket, or beating his man off of the dribble. Those chances are limited by the 2-3 zone that Jim Boeheim will throw at them, and the opportunities that they do get may also not be dealt with all that efficiently – each of them played the full 40 minutes at both Louisville and Pittsburgh, which will have their tanks running low. But this time around the interior defense will not be exploited like it was on Wednesday, with Syracuse not having the low post scorers to take advantage. That makes this line far higher than it should be.

Play Title ***HUGE*** Burns' Underdog GAME OF THE YEAR! (Day)
Play Selected Point Spread: 4.5/-110
I'm taking the points with WYOMING. One could certainly argue that this is a bigger game for New Mexico. That's because the Lobos enter the weekend in a 3-way tie for first place in the Mountain West, tied with both BYU and Utah. Naturally, they'd badly like to claim at least a share of the regular season conference title. Meanwhile, Wyoming is already assured of the sixth seed in the MWC tournament. That doesn't mean that this isn't an absolutely huge game for the Cowboys too, though. For starters, they're looking to strengthen their postseason resume. Perhaps more importantly, they've got four seniors, who will be honored before the game, and they're looking to send them out in style. The Lobos won big when these teams met at Albuquerque. That's not all that surprising though. New Mexico has been great at The Pit for years and was a perfect 8-0 there in conference play this season. Playing on the road has been a different story for the Lobos though, as they're just 5-6 in true road games and 5-8 away from Albuquerque overall. Like their guests, the Cowboys have been MUCH better at home. Despite losing vs. BYU last time out, the Cowboys have been terrific here overall. They're 13-2 in home games overall, including 8-2 SU and 7-3 ATS in home lined games and 1-0 SU/ATS as a home underdog in the +3.5 to +6 range. Looking back a bit further and we find Wyoming at a profitable 21-11 ATS its last 32 home lined games. Its also worth noting that the Cowboys have won 10 of the last 11 meetings vs. the Lobos, here in Laramie. As Wyoming coach Heath Schroyer had to say: "...New Mexico is playing as well as anyone in the league, but they will have to come to our place..." Senior Brandon Ewing is one of the best players to ever play here at Wyoming. Indeed, he's the second leading scorer and assist man in school history, while also starting the most career games. Playing his last game at Arena-Auditorium, look for him to lead by example as the Cowboys bounce back with a massive effort and improve to 6-2 ATS when coming off a conference loss. *Underdog GOY
