1-3 FOR THE WEEK

Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 7:00 PM.]

Vancouver Canucks (-155) at Toronto Maple Leafs

Mats Sundin returns to Toronto as a Canuck for the first time after serving the Maple Leafs well as a player for 13 seasons. He should get quite a rousing ovation. That said, it will be all downhill for Toronto when the game starts. Vancouver is very hot right now (7-1 in their last 8 overall) while Toronto is in a downward spiral, going just 1-4 in their last 5 overall. The Canucks and goalie Roberto Luongo are just too strong for Toronto to handle.

St. Louis (-1 Point) vs. Dayton

Coach Majeurus’ system is well in place and the Billikins have a top backcourt that should be able to handle Dayton’s pressure . St. Louis is a big winner at home, having lost only 2 times there all year.

Play: St. Louis (-1 Point)

Gill Coliseum will be the site of this Pac 10 clash on Saturday afternoon in Corvallis between the host Oregon State Beavers and the visiting Golden Bears from the University of California. Cal enters today’s contest off four straight wins both SU and ATS. They are 20-6 SU and 15-7 ATS on the year including conference play where they are 9-4 SU and 8-5 ATS averaging 73.1 points per game and allowing 69.0 points per game. Cal is 10-1 SU and 9-2 ATS at Oregon State since 1997. California is also 9-1 ATS in their last 10 games following an ATS win, 7-1-1 ATS in their last 9 games as a road favorite of 6.5 or less and 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games following a SU win. Oregon State is 12-13 SU and 10-10 ATS overall on the season including a conference record of 6-8 SU and 7-7 ATS averaging 55.9 points per game and allowing 62.6 points per game. OSU is 4-13 ATS in home games against conference opponents the last 2 seasons, 9-19 ATS after 2 consecutive conference games, 0-7 ATS off 2 or more consecutive upset wins as an underdog since 1997 and 0-9 ATS in home games after playing 5 consecutive games as an underdog over the last 2 seasons. This is a huge revenge game for Cal as the Beavers defeated the Bears back on January 22nd at Cal 69 to 65 as a 17.5 point road underdog. The Bears will not allow Oregon States Princeton-style to break them down in this meeting they have seen it and will have an answer as they get the SU and ATS win on Saturday in Corvallis.

Projected Final Score: (4*) California Bears 68 Oregon State 59

The Convocation Center will be the site of tonight’s Sun Belt Conference battle between host Arkansas State Red Wolves and the visiting Pioneers from Denver University. Denver enters tonight’s contest with a record of 12-14 SU and 15-7 ATS but they have struggled when playing away from home going 1-12 SU and 7-4 ATS averaging 57.3 points per game and allowing 65.1 points per game on 47.3 percent from the field. Arkansas State is 13-13 SU and 12-11 ATS overall on the year but they are 9-3 SU and 4-5 ATS when playing on their home floor averaging 71.5 points per game on 45.9 percent from the field and allowing only 59.0 points per game on 39.4 percent shooting. Arkansas State has struggled of late playing conference opponents but they have already defeated this Pioneers team on their home floor once this season 75 to 73 back on January 8th. This is a revenge spot for the Pioneers but revenge doesn’t mean you get the win you still have to play the game and this Red Wolves team is in desperate need of a win and this is a perfect bounce-back situation for them. Play Against CBB Teams after going ‘under’ at home in their last two games now a road underdog, 19-35-1 ATS if they are a conference road underdog their record is 16-30-1 ATS. Play ON CBB home teams with a line of 3 to 6.5 points after losing SU on the road and going ‘over’ in their last game, 58-37-1 ATS. Play ON CBB home teams with a line range of 3 to 6.5 points after losing ATS and going ‘over’ on the road in their last game, 42-23 ATS. Play ON conference home teams after losing their last two games on the road, 48-25 ATS if they are a conference favorite of 3 to 6.5 points they are 30-14-1 ATS. Lay the chalk with the host as the Red Wolves get the straight up and against the spread win on Saturday night in Jonesboro.

PROJECTED FINAL SCORE: (4*) Arkansas State 77 Denver Pioneers 69

War Memorial Gymnasium will be the site for tonight’s West Coast Conference battle between the host San Francisco Dons and the visiting Broncos from Santa Clara University. The Dons are coming off a home loss versus Gonzaga 78 to 73 as a 17 point home underdog. That game is giving us some decent line value here as our numbers project the Broncos as a 6.5 to 7.5 point favorite. Although this is a revenge spot for the Dons we do not believe they have the talent or the will to avenge that loss to the Broncos back on January 23 (70 to 54 as 7.5 point road underdog). San Francisco is 1-8 ATS as a home underdog or pick the last 2 seasons, 0-7 ATS as a home underdog of 3 points or less or pick, 0-9 ATS as a home underdog of 6 points or less or pick the last 3 seasons, 2-10 ATS in home games revenging a loss versus opponent the last 2 seasons, 2-9 ATS in home games revenging a road loss versus opponent the last 2 seasons and 2-11 ATS after playing a game as an underdog this season. Play Against CBB home underdogs after losing their last three games, 73-100-5 ATS. Play Against CBB home underdogs after losing their last four games, 50-73-5 ATS. Play Against CBB home teams after losing their last two games at home and now have a line range of 3 to 6.5 points, 12-31-1 ATS. Play ON CBB conference teams after playing their last two games on the road, 116-87-4 ATS. Play ON CBB conference road teams after playing on the road in their last two games, 81-52-5 ATS if they have a line range of 3 to 6.5 points the record is 34-18-2 ATS. Lay the short price with the visitor as the Broncos sweep the Dons and cash the winning ticket for us on Saturday night in San Francisco.

Today's Premium Pick: Kansas -12
Projected System Results: Jayhawks by (14-16)
Play Strength (1-10*): 9*
Unit: 3 Unit Play
*********************************

Breakdown:

I love closing bets, the opportunity is exciting! I think its about time to close this session out. Today were trying with the Kansas Jayhawks. There's a great chance Kansas will score 70+ points in this game, I have them scoring just over that. Kansas is 12-2 ATS when scoring 70+ points game and 8-1-1 ATS when allowing under 70. Nebraska Averages 64 a game, 58 on the road and 60 in conference. Nebraska averages 40 percent from the field on the road and in conference. Note that the Cornhuskers are 3-6 ATS when shooting 45% and below from the field. I see Kansas really putting a hurting on them today guys. I know its a lot of points but its this high for a reason and I think they will cover this for us to close out our session. TRENDS: Kansas; 4-0 L4 ATS as fav in this range; 16-5-1 L22 ATS vs poor road teams; 19-7-1 L27 as a fav; 7-2-1 L10 at home and as home fav. Nebraska has nothing going for them this year as they post 7-20 L27 as road underdog; 3-8 L11 as underdog in this range; 2-5 in L7; 8-20 L28 road games vs. solid home teams. The Jayhawks play Nebraska solid as well guys as they are 9-1 L10 meetings and fav is 9-1 L10 as well. Take Kansas as our 9* graded play.

New Orleans at Utah
Play: Utah -7

Utah blew up New Orleans 116-90 in their only meeting this season. The Jazz have won and covered 2 straight and 4 of the last 5 meetings with New Orleans. Utah is playing hot. They have won and covered 6 of their last 7 overall and are still one of the NBA's best home teams, covering 6 straight at the Energy Solutions Arena. Guard Deron Williams is scoring 30 points and is shooting 55% from the floor in the month of February. Mehmet Okur and Ronnie Brewer are just behind Williams in their numbers. The Hornet's just came off of a tough 115-111 OT loss to the Laker's last night and now must travel to the high altitudes of Salt Lake City. They have had their troubles on the road, failing to cover their last 4 away from home. New Orleans is 2-14 ATS their last 16 as a 'dog of 5-10.5 points, 2-5 ATS their last 7 vs the NBA Southwest, and 3-7 ATS their last 10 overall. Utah is 6-1 ATS their last 7 as a favorite, 4-1 ATS their last 5 vs. the West, and 57-27-2 ATS their last 86 at home. The Jazz will have stronger legs than the road-weary Hornet's. Side with one of the best home court advantages in sports.
