Giants vs. Dodgers 10:10 pm est.
One major surprising fact about Bruce Bochy’s team is the fact that it ranks ninth among the (12) top contenders in starter's ERA, ahead of only the Pirates, Brewers and Tigers. The Giants' bullpen has been strong (among contenders, only the Mariners have fewer second-half blown saves, which is remarkable considering that Sergio Romo lost his closer's job to Santiago Casilla. Huge series here for both clubs. LA now leads the Giants by (4 ½) games in the West as the Dodgers have locked up at least a Wildcard, but could put the Giants away with this series at Chavez Ravine. The Giants still have a (4 ½) game lead over a slumping Milwaukee for one of the two Wild Card spots. The Giants are hanging their hat on starter Jake Peavy's success at Dodger Stadium. He owns a (7-1) record with a (2.85) ERA in (13) starts there, helping hike his career record against Los Angeles to (14-3). He'll be opposed by Dan Haren. One of to many LA starters have been slumping, failing to make it out of the fifth inning in seven straight games. The bullpen has also been a lot of concern with a mediocre ERA and has blown holds of late. The Giants took home two titles in the past four seasons which makes the Giants still undervalued. This team has more proven players than the high-priced Dodgers, and nearly the entire 2012 World Championship roster returns to the team's roster. Injuries have played a role in some inconsistency for the San Francisco offense but the lineup is back in shape now.
