Nice win by Boston to bring us to our goal of +22 units. Now we set a new goal of +24 units and maybe we get there in 1 game or maybe it takes a few days if we lose, but we'll get there with a focused money management strategy and continue to climb.
I like the Angels and Red Sox today but there are enough doubts to back away. I'm going with a rather obvious choice but I've got many reasons why we should take Washington today.
MLB 52-36-8: +22 units
MLB PLAY OF THE DAY
Washington Nationals -1 (-118)
Risking 2.36 units to win 2 units
9:40pm start
Roark, Ray must start
Is Washington just a trap game as the top public bet or are there way too many reasons why they deserve to be the top pick today?
Tanner Roark is the better pitcher here by far with his team going 7-1 in their last 8 when he starts against sub. 500 teams and 5-1 in his last 6 overall. Washington is also 6-0 in a game 2 situation and coming off a 19 hit performance in a hitter friendly park to win 14-1 against Arizona.
Robbie Rays starts for the Dbacks after giving up 5 runs in 5.2 inning against the Brewers. His team is 1-6 when he starts but they're just a bad team overall right now. 30 runs allowed in their last 3 games, 7-22 in their last 29 games and losers of 10 out of 13 has Arizona in a tough spot to win here.
I can't bet on the Nats until they get their offense going. With the dust settling on all trades and rosters looking much more set, it's time for the best teams to pull away. The Nats have scored 4 or more runs in 6 of their last 8 games. Ray has a 5.17 ERA at home this season compared to Roark at 2.79 away. Roark has not allowed a run to Arizona in 18.1 innings of total work against them in his career. He gave up only 1 run in 7 innings last time to the Giants.
That's plenty of reasons to take Washington. The push could happen with such a large public favorite winning by only 1 run to burn -1.5 bets on them but we'll get a good price at the -1 for -118 right now if you care not take the juicy -148 moneyline. Take the Nationals.
