Golden State Warriors -12.5
When the Warriors got out to a 25 point lead I figured that game was over. Somehow the Pelicans fought back in the fourth to make this a respectable game. I felt the Warriors let-up a bit after having such a huge lead. It was an early game on a Saturday (12:30 PM West Coast time) which is already a pretty unusual time to play a game. And after having such a dominant showing in the first 3 quarters, the Dubs really didn’t need to show much in the 4th as they let New Orleans slowly chip away. Tonight should be a different outcome. First of all, the game is in primetime with EVERYONE watching. Second of all both Tyreke Evans and Jrue Holiday are banged up. These are guys are important to Pelicans’ success and without them Norris Cole will play a ton of minutes. Don’t get fooled but how he looked at time on Saturday – Cole is as mediocre of a player as it gets in this league. There are plenty of TO-prone PG’s who can’t shoot to go around and Cole fits the bill. Keep in mind, he had a 10.9 PER on the season, way below a league average mark of 15. If Evans/Holiday are truly limited, this is a huge factor in Warriors’ favor. But even if they’re not, this game should be a blowout. Davis is a stud but his supporting cast is weak. Asik is a virtual zero in this matchup. Ryan Anderson can’t defend. Evans/Holiday/Cole are hurt and/or inadequate. Eric Gordon is as overrated as they come in this league. I think this series is a huge mismatch and while the Dubs let NO climb back in in game 1, I don’t think they’ll let it happen tonight. I like the Warriors by 20+ in this one.
