THE FALL MIRACLE

CITADEL (+7) over CHARLESTON

Citadel won just 6 games in all of the 2007-2008 season but really turned it around last year, using an 11 game winning streak to win 20 games total. This season they have not let down their guard, literally. Defensively they picked up where they left off last March when they went 14 of the last 15 regular season conference games holding opponents to under 70 regulation points. Their style of play is similar to Wisconsin where they slow down the tempo and force you to play to their role, with a concentration on defense. This season they have stepped up the defense and slowed down the tempo even more, and forget about 70 points. They have gone 11 consecutive games holding their opponents under 62 regulation points. Charleston is on fire and have gone 8-2 both SU and ATS and have won 3 consecutive games by double digits. They are probably the best in the conference and their talent level is not to be questioned after a win over UNC, even if UNC is bad this season they are still the defending champion. Regardless, this an excellent time to go against them for a game, even though they are 10-0 at home. This is also the third consecutive time Charleston is an 7-9 point home favorite and they just covered the last 2. By the time everyone realizes this and gets on the cruise ship with the favorite, the cruise is over and the drinks are no longer free.

If oddsmakers were so worried about the favorite covering on this night that features just a few games, they would have put this spread up around or 9 or 10. Count on Citadel to stay within the number anyway, as their tempo and game plan have caused them to lose just 1 of their last 29 conference games by double digits, and that 1 was an 11 point loss to Davidson where the Wildcats got lucky with 15 made shots from 3-pt. land.

Charleston 65, Citadel 64

Does anyone know if Charlotte is supposed to be College of Charleston or does it mean the Hornets(meaning that Sebastian or whoever posted the pick forgot that it is the Bobcats who play in Charlotte and not the Hornets as was the case?).

On the tape, Seabass mentioned Charlotte after GS, so I believe he meant Hornets. He has called the Hornets "Charlotte" before.

I don't know how much to trust someone who handicaps games who hasn't got straight what city they are in. They didn't move yesterday!

anyone know what lang said about his loss??? curious
The disappointment I feel isn't about losing the game, but for not winning the game for an 18th straight year for everyone who put their faith in me.

Not everyone got the first 17 and a lot of people only got #18. It just wasn't meant to be last night.

Need to go see one of those spiritual people who channel up spirits and ask her to call up Dimaggio's so I can ask him how he felt inside the day after his 56 game hitting streak came to an end.

If God had come to anyone 20 years ago and said to them, "I will give you 17 straight super bowl winners in a row before you lose your first but understand the devastation you are going to feel when you lose your first is going to be unbearable. Do you want that?

There isn't a soul on the planet earth who wouldn't have taken that.

I am a realist and I knew at some point it was going to come to an end but to have to cross that bridge sooner than later is something I just didn't think would happen today.

Not with the Colts, not with Peyton Manning, not last night.

Up 17-16, with the ball at the Saints 32, having just picked up a 4th and 2, just over 12 minutes to go in the game, you just expect the Colts to go in there and score, go up 24-16, watch their defense get the stop and then Peyton closes out the game.

It's what the Colts do. What I handicapped them to do. What I've seen them do countless times before but on this night I saw them run for 2 yards and then 2 questionable play calls on 2nd and 3rd down led to the miss field goal and GAME OVER.

I guess when destiny decides to back a team, back a city, you don't go against that and it was just destiny for the Saints to win last night and as I found out the hard way, you can't beat destiny.

Tough pill to swallow believe you me but the sun rose today and the sun will set today and my life will go on.

Speaking of which, it was just a matter of time before I heated up in basketball and going 6-0 Tuesday thru Saturday last week setting the table for basketball winner #7 in a row tonight.

You start walking by putting one foot in front of the other and keep moving forward.
