Indianapolis at Miami
Favorite: Indianapolis -3
O/U: 42
The Colts didn't start out the season with the kind of scoring numbers
one would expect from Peyton Manning and company, but the score didn't
portray the numbers as they added up. The Colts had little difficulty
moving the ball, but gave away the first quarter of the game with two
turnovers. I chalk it up to the first full game of the season at game
speed. One thing Indy did do, was hold Jacksonville in check with
their defense by limiting them to a total of 228 yards and forcing 5
punts.
In Miami, turnovers cost the Dolphins a shot at the 1-0 start.
Pennington was average, but Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams provide a
solid backfield. However, the Dolphins relied upon the wildcat last
season to give them an offensive edge - an edge almost every team in
the league now has a defensive package to guard against. Miami's
defense against the run may very well be the strength of the 2009 team
that keeps them competitive as they held Atlanta to just 68 yards on
the ground.
Against Indy, stopping Addai and Brown on the ground may force Peyton
Manning to carry the load, but in a straight match-up of Manning vs.
Pennington, the scales tip heavily in favor of the Manning and the
Colts.
