We will continue to back Stephens as underdog because she shouldn't be underdog at this point given her form. In her current form she can beat pretty much anyone in WTA. Stephens biggest weakness in the past was too many unforced errors but she has overcome that weakness in this tournament. Her defense and offense are looking incredible and her power will cause trouble for Safarova. We are getting great odds because of the current rankings of the players and the names. So take the value side.
We rarely back favorites but today there is some value on Mannarino's odds. . Mannarino handled Chung easier than expected yesterday and his game looks pretty consistent. This is big letdown spot for the 18 year old Shapovalov. This youngster has a lot of potential but his tennis still needs plenty of refining. Nadal wasn't at his best yesterday and lost to Shapovalov even though Shap committed nearly 50 unforced errors. Shapovalov has a good serve and powerful shots that can create many winners but at the same time he is prone to committing many unforced errors. He is way over his head now after beating Nadal and it will not be easy to stay fully focused in this game. Public will also back Shaovalov heavily today as a dog but books are not giving away free money guys, Mannarino is a favorite for a reason.
