Detroit Tigers vs. Colorado Rockies
The Colorado Rockies will hope a change in league opposition will help kick start their 2011 campaign when they welcome in the Detroit Tigers for Game 1 of their scheduled weekend Interleague series.

The Tigers sat tied atop the AL Central Division with the Cleveland Indians heading into the series finale on Thursday afternoon. After getting a dominating effort from Justin Verlander in the series opener, the Tigers were outslugged by the Tribe in Game 2 ultimately falling by a 6-4 final tally to fall to 37-31 ($408) overall for the year. If they are to win Thursday, manager Jimmy Leyland’s troops will have won four of their L/5 series played. Detroit’s excelled in Interleague play winning 65 of its L/97 contests but dropped its first series this season dropping two of three at PNC Park to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Colorado just hasn’t been able to find any traction the first two and a half months of its 2011 diamond campaign. The Rox enter Friday’s opener off a series home win against the San Diego Padres, but still sit two-games under .500 for the year (33-35) costing MLB bettors a whopping $1373 overall; the 3rd worst $$$ mark in the league! Coors Field used to be a place opposition went into to die, but that’s far from been the case to date with the Rockies only managing a 17-18 (-$1160) record in their own ballpark. Like Detroit, the Rockies have dominated Interleague play winning 20 of their L/29 overall and 50 of their L/69 games played at home.

These squads have opposed one another 18 times since the 2003 season, and it’s been the Rockies that have dominated tallying 11 victories. Recently however, Detroit’s won four of the L/6 with the last confrontation coming back in 2009; the ‘under’ is 5-1 during that stretch. The Tigers are 6-1 in Rick Porcello’s L/6 Interleague outings and a perfect 4-0 in their L/4 series openers. The Rockies counter with a 7-1 record the L/8 times Jason Hammel tossed at a +.500 opponent but they’ve failed to win each of his L/8 trips to the starting bump.

PICK: Detroit/Colorado UNDER

Winner yesterday with the Under San Francisco / Arizona

1* Detroit Tigers @ Colorado Rockies – UNDER 9.5 RUNS (+100)

Rick Porcello is on the mound for the Detroit Tigers, and he has been pitching well as late, without much attention. Porcello has won 5 of his last 7 starts, and has given up 3 runs or less in 9 of his past 10 starts. Rick is 6-4 on the season with a 3.61 ERA and 1.30 WHIP, while batters are hitting .259 against him. Take note that Porcello is 5-1 with a 2.30 ERA vs National League teams. Jason Hammel hasn’t had much success this season with a 3-6 record, but has respectable numbers with a 3.65 ERA and 1.33 WHIP. Batters are hitting .264 against Hammel. Take note that the UNDER is 7-2-1 in the Tigers last 10 interlague games as a small underdog of +110 to +150. The UNDER is also 5-1 in Porcello’s last 6 starts as a road underdog, and 2-0-2 with a total set between 9 and 10.5. The UNDER is 3-1-1 in his last 5 starts overall. Note that the UNDER is 7-2 in the Rockies last 9 games with a total set between 9 and 10.5, and 5-2-1 in their last 8 games as a small favorite of -110 to -150. The UNDER is 34-15-2 in the Rockies last 51 interleague games vs a team with a winning record. Also note that the UNDER is 4-0 in these two teams last 4 meetings. This series is very important to both teams, and I expect runs to a little tougher to come by than this high total indicates.
Take the UNDER tonight.

WUNDERDOG (WNBA)
WNBA 10-4 Season-to-Date +$1090
1 OF 5

Game: Indiana at Seattle (10:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: Seattle -6 (-110)

Year in and year out, Seattle comes to play, especially at home where they are now an amazing 51-6 straight-up in their last 57 regular season games played here. Better yet, the only two Eastern Conference teams to beat them have been Connecticut and Chicago over the 57-game stretch at home. The Fever have been a good team in recent years, but they are in a bad spot as they are just 3-7 ATS off an ATS loss and similarly, 3-7 ATS off two days rest. That raises double-jeopardy here for the Fever vs. a Seattle team that is tough to take down at home.
Play Seattle here.
