Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Colorado Rockies
NL West action gets down and dirty Friday night from Coors Field where the Los Angeles Dodgers will battle the hated Colorado Rockies for the second game of their scheduled four-game weekend series.

The Dodgers were handed a hard dose of reality in the City of Brotherly Love where they did manage to take one against the Phillies, but were limited to a total of just one run in their other two losses. Scoring runs has been a problem for LA all season long; they enter Thursday’s series opener ranked 27th in the league with a 3.65 RPG average and 21st overall with just 47 home runs. Manager Don Mattingly’s squad sits 6.5-games back in the division by churning out a 29-34 mark (-$705); Thursday pending. The Dodgers sport losing $$$ marks both at home (-$366) and on the road (-$339) where they’ve won 14 of 32 games played.

The Rockies were thought to be one of the frontrunners in the NL West at the outset of the 2011 MLB season, and manager Jim Tracy’s squad made those that predicted as such look good over the course of the first month of the year. Unfortunately, Troy Tulowitzki and his teammates were unable to duplicate their early season success throughout May, and they entered the series opener with the Dodgers on Thursday night three-games under .500 overall (-$1274) and 5.5-games out in the division. As a host, the Rockies sit two-games under .500 overall (13-15) costing MLB bettors a whopping $1061 overall.

These division rivals have already met five times this season with the home team winning four of the five battles; the ‘over’ cashed in three of the games. The Dodgers have tallied victories in four of Chad Billingsley’s L/5 road starts, but LA’s just 3-7 in his L/10 outings vs. the Rockies. Colorado stands just 3-8 its L/11 vs. sub .500 opposition and 1-5 its L/6 at home, but are 7-2 the L/9 times Jhoulys Chacin toed the bump for them in Game 2 of a series.

5 Star Pick = BOSTON RED SOX TO WIN (-136)

The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last 9 road games, and 22-8 in their last 30 games overall. Boston is also 7-0 in their last 7 vs AL East opponents, and 9-0 in their last 9 vs left handed starters. They are also an incredible 22-4 in their last 26 vs a team with a winning record. Buchholz gets the start tonight, and they are 35-16 in his last 51 starts, and 10-3 in his last 13 road starts vs a team with a winning record. Buchholz is 4-2 with a 1.69 ERA in Toronto lifetime. Going for the Blue Jays is Jo-JO Reyes, who is 2-4 on the season with a 4.16 ERA and 1.51 WHIP. Batters are hitting .293 against Reyes, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Red Sox tee'd off on him tonight. The Blue Jays are 1-4 in their last 5 vs a team with a winning record, and 1-4 in Reyes' last 5 starts with 4 days of rest. Also note that the Red Sox are 10-4 in their last 14 meetings in Toronto, and 6-2 in Buchholz last 8 starts vs the Jays.
I'm on the MLB's hottest team tonight in Toronto as my 5 star selection.

WUNDERDOG (WNBA)
1 OF 4

Game: Connecticut at Chicago (8:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: Chicago -1.5 (-110)

The Connecticut Sun certainly have a lot of Connecticut flavor on their team with four former UConn Huskies on the roster. That has helped them immensely at home, where they draw well. The road is a different animal at 5-12 last season, and a woeful 2-9-1 ATS on the road as a dog of +5.5 or less, or as a favorite. The Sky roster looks strong especially in the middle with Sylvia Fowles who has the size and athleticism to contain Charles on the blocks. The Sky held their own on the road at Indiana, but it will be a different story here at home tonight against the road susceptible Sun.
Take Chicago in this one.
