Friday MLB Play- GC

On Friday the Bonus Play is On the Minnesota Twins. Game 976 at 8:10 eastern. The Twins are reasonably priced tonight in this series opener against the Royals. The pitching matchup features Z.Greinke for the Royals and S. Baker for the Twins. The perception is that the Royals have a big edge here. However Greinke is just 3-8 vs the Twins and was less than impressive against the Twins in a road start back in October allowing 4 earned runs in 6 innings. The Twins S. Baker has pitched real well vs the Royals with a 7-3 record and a solid 3.16 era. He won his last 2 starts vs the Royals and should do well vs this lineup once again. KC. is a terrible 14-38 on Friday nights while the Twins are 37-16 on Fridays. Minnesota has been a terrific home favorite in this range. The Royals have lost all 3 games this season following a win. Look for the Twins to take game 1 as a modest favorite. On Friday I have a Huge 5* MLB Power system side with a solid pitching advantage. I also have a Must go 2-0 parlay package on the Friday night card out of an excellent sequence scenario situation. Those with me on Thursday cashed the Big totals play on the over in the Reds at Marlins game. Tonight we start the weekend right.. For the Bonus Play take the Twins. bol GC

OAKLAND ATHLETICS -150

For a number of different reasons I believe the value in this contest is on the home side:

Kevin Millwood is coming of a 5-2 loss to the Blue Jays; he allowed five runs, four earned, on five hits over 7 2/3's innings.

Millwood has pitched well this year; but remember, last season he went 5-7 with a 4.15 ERA on the road and is going to be in trouble against the hot hitting A's.

In the other dugout: Dallas Braden dominated in his first start, striking out 10 batters but received a no decision.

He was quite as effective in his second outing, but came away with the victory; he allowed three runs on five hits in six innings; one walk and two K's.

Braden was particularly effective at home last year; 6-4 with a 3.69 ERA.

Bottom line: Oakland has been dominant at home to start the year and I believe they'll once again lay a beat down tonight; Oakland is the leader in the AL West after finishing last in 2009.

“It’s a great way to start to start the season,” Braden said. “We feel we can compete with anybody. If we can continue to do what we’ve done so far, which is win the series, we’ll be OK.”

Baltimore is off to its worst start after yesterday's 6-2 loss in the opener of this series; it's been outscored 39-15 during the seven-game road skid to the A's.

Both pitchers have had success against the other team; however I believe that the hard hitting A's will continue to roll for the time being; play on OAKLAND!

*8* ATHLETICS.

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES -1.5

The Phillies, even without Rollins in the lineup, will generate runs throughout the course of a game. Unlike last night's game, where the bullpen imploded, I expect Halladay to go the distance again and pitch yet another gem. Halladay is the best pitcher in the league today. Until he slips up (which may be never), why not ride him out? The Phillies will give him great run support and should win this game at home with ease. Take the Phillies -1.5 runs (-130).

ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS -115

Neither pitcher has been impressive so far, Jackson toes the rubber for Arizona and a totally unimpressive Jon Garland hits the mound for the Padres. It is the OFFENSE in this one you have to look at and with Garland having a 1.80 WHIP and over a 5 ERA here, it is the bats of the D-Backs that make the huge difference here at a cheap number. Yes, Arizona is a bad road team, and yes their starter is not much better but they are batting .315 as a team against right handers, and with equal bullpens, I do not think the offense depleted Pads can keep pace with them.

Play 1 Unit on Arizona tonight.

TORONTO BLUE JAYS +105

The Angels are struggling as they have opened the season with only three wins in their first 10 games. After losing two of three to the Yankees the Angels travel north of the border to take on the surging Blue Jays who are just the opposite of the Angels, winners of 7 of their first 10 contests. The Angels aren’t hitting the baseball as they come into this game with a .260 batting average and scoring only 3.6 runs per game. The Jays haven’t exactly torn the cover off the baseball either as they are hitting only .232 on the season. However, Toronto is getting great pitching as they are allowing opposing batters to hit only .219 against them. Combine that starting pitching with a bullpen that has converted 75% of their save opportunities and you have the makings of winning a lot of games. The Angels send out Weaver, who’s been tough against the Jays, but we think the Angels are in a tough spot tonight coming off that series with the Yankees and having to travel to Toronto. Marcum has pitched well against the Angels and we look for the Jay’s pitching to continue to be strong. Play on Toronto.

ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS -119

Usually I agree with the oddsmakers and just look for my best edge on the board. Let me just come out and say I feel they blew it on this one. I do not agree with the number on this game and am going with a Triple Star.

The Diamondbacks provided us with a nice rabid dog winner two nights ago over the Dodgers. Last night my free release was on the Dodgers over the D'Backs. Well tonight I am switching back over and going with Arizona in a big way.

The D'Backs have been scoring runs okay, key issue with them as it is with many clubs is their leaky bullpen. The pen is sporting a lofty 6.75 era the last four ballgames. But I will take Edwin Jackson here guys over Jon Garland every day of the week. Garland has been shaky in his first two outings and just faced this Arizona club back on april 5th and was touched up for 6 runs in only 4 frames.

When push comes to shove here guys I just do not trust this Padre offense much and that combined with Garland taking the ball presents us with a valid Triple Star opportunity. I'm guessing the reason the number is set where it is stems from Jackson's less than great numbers in the past against San Diego, BUT, that history is so limited I am just not willing to put that much stock in it.

I've looked at todays board long and hard guys and this is the strongest value I see far and away. Take Arizona.

MINNESOTA TWINS -127

Listed Pitchers (Baker vs Grienke)

I absolutely see great Value with the TWINS at HOME tonight--Others may see "value" on Grienke as a "dog" and that can be argued as well---but for ME, I personally think we are getting outstanding VALUE with the HOME TEAM here tonight. KC is coming off a win at Detroint yesterday--and took 2 of 3 from the Tigers--while the Twins shutout the Red Sox in Minnesota--and they continue to play great ball at home--Minnesota has won 8 of the last 9 games played between these two clubs coming into tonight.

Grienke has made two starts this season--and he had a successful one in his 1st start vs the Tigers---but of course the KC bully blew it for him and get got a no decision. His last start was against the Red Sox and he gave up 4 ER in 6 2/3 IP--and quite frankly he has not looked like his the dominant Zach of last season, so far this season. He is (3-4) with a 3.94 ERA career vs the Twins--and he's held both Mauer and Morneau in check throughout his career--Three Twins have had some decent success vs Zach--Kubel (5-17, 2B, 3B)--Young (4-11, 2B, HR)--Thome (7-29, 2 HR's)-

Baker is coming off a rock solid start his last time out--as he went 7 strong innings allowing just 5 hits ansd 1 ER over the White Sox--and had great command. Baker is (7-3) in his career vs K.C. with a rock solid 3.16 ERA--and he has had great success vs several key Royals hitters: Butler (1-22)--Guillen (4-17, 2B, HR)--Bentacourt (4-20, 2B)--Callaspo (2-10, 2B, HR)--DeJesus (4-16, 2 2B)--Bloomquist (2-9)--Kenall is (3-10, 2B) & Podsednik (3-13, HR) have had some success vs Baker--

Now let's take a look at the ever important BULLPEN for tonight----Royals bullpen= 7.31 ERA, with a WHIP of 1.979 & they have a On-Base-Percentage AGAINST of .417--Twins bullpen= 2.27 ERA, with a WHIP of 1.083 & they have a On-Base-Percentage AGAINST of .278----So CLEARLY we have a HUGE edge in the bullpen with the TWINS--and I love that they had a blowout win over Boston yesterday--as they have a nice rested bully for tonight as well--Bottomline I see rock solid Value on the TWINS at HOME tonight in this spot--and I fully expect them to come through with another home win over this Kansas City club. Take the Twins.

CHICAGO WHITE SOX -140

Cleveland has struggled hitting this season, and their struggles continued yesterday despite getting the win. The Indians were only able to muster three runs, all coming on a home run by Shin-Soo Choo. White Sox starter Mark Buehrle has dominated the Indians in his recent starts against them. He is also pitching very well this season. The Indians are also really having problems against lefties. Chicago, while also not hitting very well this season, gets to face righty Mitch Talbot from Cleveland. He allowed 6 hits and 5 walks in his first start of the season, and I expect Chicago to hit him hard enough to get the win. 3 UNIT SELECTION WHITE SOX.
