No, I don’t think for a second that Fresno State is going to walk into Boise and upset the Broncos. But this line is completely out of whack from what I thought it was going to be. It’s about nine points more than what I think it should be. That’s why I’m going to grab all these points and play Fresno State in this one.
Fresno State has proven that it can stay with an offensive juggernaut, losing by a point to high-scoring Nevada six days ago, falling 35-34 as 7 ½-point underdogs. The Bulldogs have scored 27 points or more in each of their games this season and they have the second-best pass defense in the Western Athletic Conference, limiting teams to 193.9 yards per game through the air.
Another reason to look at the Bulldogs is the fact that they are committed to the running game. They have RB Robbie Rouse who has rushed for 503 yards in the last two weeks. That means they will take time off the clock and keep the explosive Boise State offense off the field.
Last year, Boise went to Fresno and scored a 51-34 victory, cashing as 7 ½-point favorites. But in games played in Idaho, the Broncos have only won one of the previous three by 30 points or more. Fresno State can score some points and that will serve us and all our points very well.
Fresno is on ATS surges of 8-3 on the road, 6-1 against teams with winning home records and 8-3 as a road underdog.
And then we can talk about the look-ahead factor for Boise State. The Broncos have their big road game at Nevada coming up next week. All eyes will be on that one as two of the highest-scoring teams in the nation square off.
Again, I don’t think Fresno State is pulling off the outright upset, but if the Bulldogs come anywhere close to their average of 34.7 points per game, they will cash our ticket tonight. Play Fresno!
