New Orleans vs Cleveland (NBA)

Event Date: 01/16/2009
Play: New Orleans +4.5
Comments: Cleveland is going to have a tough time tonight. Not only does there star player Lebron have a cold but they will be without Delonte West, who broke his wrist last night, Zydrunas Ilgauskas who has a broken ankle, and most likely Ben Wallace who has the flu. This opening line is a gift and is going to be moving very fast not in our favor. Jump on it quick!!!! Chris Paul has been on fire and just missed a quadruple double in his last game. The last time these teams met was back on November 1st when New Orleans won 104-92. Paul had 24 points and 15 assists in that game. With so many players missing for Cleveland, New Orleans can put most of there attention on shutting down Lebron. New Orleans has won 4 out of the last 5 times these teams have met. Look for New Orleans to cover tonight with ease and possibly put a stop to Cleveland's impressive 19 straight wins at home with an outright win tonight.

Analysis: Stan is Betting ATLANTA today. Stan notes that we are getting exceptional line value here as we catch Golden St. following their game with Sacramento in which they lost 135-133. Since they scored so many points Vegas has over adjusted this line. Stan has Atlanta winning by 6-9 points here. TAKE ATLANTA as STAN'S NBA BLOWOUT OF THE WEEK and make them a DOUBLE DIME PLAY.

New Jersey at Columbus
Pick: UNDER 5.5 -140

The Blue Jackets have been a rather hot team as they have won seven of their last nine. It is easy to see why. They have had outstanding goaltending from Steve Mason. Mason has four shutouts in his last nine games behind the net. He has allowed a total of 14 goals in his last nine, or just 1.6 per contest. It is one reason why the Jackets have played UNDER in eight of their last 10 at home and 15 of their last 21 overall. The Devils have a streak of their own as off of two day's rest, they have proceeded to play 19-7-2 to the UNDER. It is hard to play OVER with a hot goaltender like Mason that is giving up virtually nothing, so I like this one to go UNDER the posted total.

Detroit at Oklahoma City
Pick: Oklahoma City +3.5

The Pistons are struggling in a big way. Tayshaun Prince is slumping, Richard Hamilton hasn't been able to get in the flow since his groin injury, and Allen Iverson is having the worst shooting year of his career. The Thunder has been gold to their backers as they continue to play inspired basketball after a 3-29 start. They are now beginning to win games as they are now 4-4 in their last eight, including 3-2 at home. This team is now 19-5 ATS in their last 24 as a dog, and 8-0 ATS in their last eight at home as a dog. The Pistons have surrounded a seven-game winning streak by going 5-9 before and after, and have now dropped three of four. The Thunder produces again, and I'll back them in this one as a live home dog.

Another 2-0 sweep. Back to back 2-0 sweeps. (4-0 run).
6-2 this week (3-1 NBA, 3-1 CBB).
Going or 4 straight winning weeks in the NBA (15-7 last 22).
Things are going very well for us right now.

4 Unit Play (NBA). Take Over 188.5 between Detroit Pistons @ OKC (Friday @ 8pm est). The other day I mentioned to you how I thought OKC was going to beat the Jazz Outright at home - well, they did. Then, I talked about how the Bulls have a great shot at defeating the Cavs outright at home yesterday - and, they did. Even further back, one of my biggest POD back in December was when OKC was at Detroit and they covered easily as they ended up losing 88-90 as they were 11 point chalks in that game. Well, much like OKC got revenge on the Jazz at home, they will get their revenge on the Pistons. But, there is a caveat - a twist if you may in this contest. The fact is that the Pistons have lost 3 in a row and i can't force myself to bet against the 'Stones despite them losing 3 in a row as they are on the path to potentially lose 4 in a row after their OT loss to Indiana. But, over 70% of the public is on the road chalk here and that has an Outright win written all over for OKC. Regardless, we will indirectly bet against the Pistons. How? We will do this by taking the Over as I believe OKC will be an "active dog' and consequently push this game over. I have talked and written about my active dog theory extensively. When you have a dog that is "active", they consequently exceed expectations and push the total over. This was the same principle we used to cash on the OKC/Utah over as I talked about how OKC was going to exceed expectations and score more often which forced Utah (the favorite) to keep up and consequently the total spills over. I expect this game to total in the high 190's today as both teams should reach in the mid 90's or more by the time all is set and done.

4 Unit Play. #821. Take the Yale Bulldogs +4 over Brown (Friday @ 7pm est). Let's make it 4-1 this week in college basketball with tonight's winner and secure our back to back winning weeks. I actually think Yale can win this game outright. The last time these two teams played last year Yale fell short and they are cognizant of that. Plus, Yale has played a tougher non-conference schedule this year so their overall record compared to Brown's is irrelevant. Look, I know Yale is 5-9 but that is irrelevant. Why? Well, because Yale has played the likes of Stanford at home and lost by just 8, Vermont on the road, Portland on the road, Oregon State on the road and actually won that game 53-52 and lost to Alabama by just 3 points on the road. You think Yale is intimidated in going to Brown to play a conference game? lol. This team has played Bama, Portland, Vermont and Oregon State on the road so I can promise you that this team is not afraid of Brown. Plus, over 70% of the public is favoring Brown here and their 6-8 record. But, look who those wins come against for Brown. This team has defeated the likes of MIT who is not even a division 1 basketball team, Bryant university who is one of the wost schools in the country ranked outside the top 320, Quinnapac (another team ranked outside the top 300), Eastern Michigan and Hartford - all outside the top 300. In short, Brown has played some cupcake teams and are not as tested as Yale who has not played some very tough competition. I expect Yale to be very game today as they should compete for the Ivy Title but more importantly, they should have the experience, talent and being vetted through a solid non-conference schedule to pull the Outright her today or stay within the 4 points. The Bulldogs of Yale are 4-1 ATS over their last 4 while the Brown Bears are 0-5 ATS over their last 5 games.
Good luck,
Indian Cowboy.
