The team he beat in WC'2006 was literally the same Spain team now minus confidence. Spain have won two major tournaments since Zidane defeated them. And he did it at the age of 33. He is the BOSS.

What an interesting morning. Curious timing on the JP Morgan release. I was thinking the market might be in rally mode anticipating at a minimum that the individual mandate would be struck down, or possibly the entire health care bill. Instead, futures down near 100 on what appears to be JP Morgan and lack of confidence in anything worthwhile happening in Europe. I wonder what would happen to the market if the SCOTUS surprises everyone and says the health care laws stays as is? -400 on Dow?

With Torres totally washed up and no villa Spain is weaker then in recent years

They play a very smart game for what they have (less ability to finish play much more defensively just looking to win 1-0) but gawd is it boring they were lucky to squeak by Portugal...

We'll see what happens if they face germany

The interesting thing regarding one party system politics ... Is I think this ruling will actually hurt Obama cause it is really going to rile up the conservatives and mitt can scream I will repeal the law (when in practice it will be really tough to do)....

I agree with the latter but not as much on the former. I think Conservatives were already fired up enough. If anything, it gives Liberals something to hang their hat on after being pummeled this month. It might actually energize them, thinking if the court will rule the way they did on healthcare and the Arizona law, that they have a chance for some other big wins (even though I think most people seemed to think their arguments were weak in both cases). I assumed the mandate would be thrown out but the rest of it held in place. But after the Arizona ruling, all bets were off. It's times like these where I wish we had robots in the Supreme Court that could not interject their opinions in matters that should be ruled strictly by law. Justices should be impartial but they never are.

Just reading some comments regarding this and seeing quite a few I was on the fence before this but now I'm voting mitt

in the end it don't matter mitt is an empty suit like most of the establishment GOP ... But just handicapping the one party nonsense shitshow

Personally I still will be going 3rd party regardless ... But it leans me a bit more toward a mitt vote as the scare factor of 4 more years of Obama goes up ... Vs let Obama do his thing 4 more years and pray true conservatism continues to "invade" the big government establishment GOP in response come 2016... Sometimes u have to get drug through the mud to wake people up and get to where you want to get ..... That's the optimist in me though I suppose realistically fascists will likely continue to win indefinitely with more and more government intruding into our lives

I agree the spanish players were the same but yournger, and absolutley respect Zidane, I grew up watchig him at Juve, but pointing out he never really faced this spanish generation at their best. Also overal the French team was much better than now, it wasnt only Zidane

The Italian Job is a pipe dream for the Germans.

They need "Istambul" miracle to turn the game around in 2nd half.

Just A Very Visible Fat Finger?
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 06/28/2012 - 16:15
Equities did it again - and no matter what narrative a mainstream media channel needs to comprehend the monkey-hammering that occurs every second in our 'market', it seems a fat-finger 50k block of S&P 500 e-mini futures (or around $3.3bn notional equivalent) was enough drive the nominal price index up 1% to close the day-session almost green (and rather notably right at yesterday's closing VWAP). All the highly correlated sectors of the equity market surged with them (led by Energy and leaving financials just in the red) and while Treasury yields did leak higher and EURUSD did rally, the moves were miniscule in comparison to someone's desire to own $3.3bn equivalent equity market risk into the close. Silver and Oil plunged early but recovered some into the close as stocks surged but tracked each other tick for tick for tick in general. Equities end the day modestly lower with VIX modestly higher as they saw average volume (thanks to the surge) but a drop in average trade size (algo tickler). Financials were saved by this as most recovered some of their losses with JPM limping up to close at Tuesday's closing VWAP. Credit and equity closed generally in line as IG/HY were very quiet and just being reracked along with stocks as opposed to seeing heavy flow.
