looks like northwestern is really close to being a play

NW 54.46

Minn 53.82 +3 for home team

MINN -6.5

almost a value of 8 (7.14)...any thoughts on making this a play? we have added line value due to Minny beating Illini and NW losing to Indiana...would like to here your thoughts here as NW seems to be a solid play to me even before looking at the value your rankings are providing. thanks

Just an FYI....NW's Sutton is out and Bacher is questionable. Between those 2 you are looking at about 90% of the NW offense. Also, their starting MLB is out (didn't play against Indiana). If I am correct, that injury bumped 2 RSFr to the Sam and Will 2 deep hurting their depth a bit. I would think that NW's 54.46 rating would have to be downgraded pretty significantly considering these injuries. Their rating is most likely based on how they have performed with those players. Sekrah, please correct me if I'm wrong....

Just to chime in on Illinois and how good they are as a team here's what I think:

Juice Williams played bad last weekend but is still a decent QB in the grand scheme of things. His freshman receivers accounted for 1.5 of the 3 picks. He still may have the best QB rating in the big 10. From the other side, with the weapons he has on offense a lot of QB's would look good throwing to Regis Benn and Co.

On D they can not cover anyone over the middle and the defense doesn't create turnovers. They have to play perfect games to win against decent teams to over come the poor coaching, penalties, TO's, and bad defense. They are also not good at stopping the run and Iowa may be the best rushing offense they have seen so far.

Iowa could be the 2nd best team in the Big10 this year and can shut down the running game. This is a coin toss if you ask me. On the plus side the Illini aren't playing at 11am so that helps.

Watch and see if it's windy though because if the Illini can't go vertical this game will be low scoring and Iowa will have the edge IMO.

Exactly. I won't go so far as to say that Illinois is good, because their defense is bad and their QB is inconsistent as hell. But they are a TON better than Minnesota, and completely dominated them, only to lose on a bunch of flukes added together.
