My number 1 advice to anyone is to be prepared for HUGE flucuations in your bankroll/results. If you can not deal with that you have zero chance of success.

I am betting 30+ bets a nite and very very rarley do I get emotional about them but I do get a little excitied late in games that are close but the emotions leave minutes after the game is over.

IM, you have mentioned I believe lik 8 straight winning months, how much fluctuation to the negative could you possibly have experienced over that time?

I guess a + - unit description would be the best way to explain it.

Listen to me......

get yourself a bankroll, just for sports wagering.....

bet a set amount on a few selected plays daily........ say 2% of bankroll... evaluate it monthly....... raise or lower your bets accordingly...... contribute to bankroll along the way..........

get yourself a notebook,,,,,,, write down your plays starting with #1.... keep looking at the overall picture and not the day to day swings.....

and for me,,,,,, do not watch the games that you wager on...... do your work for the day, turn your wagers in........ and forget it........ simply check the scores from time to time........ use your time to watch other games for scouting purposes...

all you need to do,,,,,,,,, is to be able to hit (57%) against a (-1.10) spread and you can retire wealthy..... if you do not go on tilt.......

SSI I love reading your posts sir.. :aktion033 Always sound advice from someone is extremely knowledgable and obviously experienced.. :aktion033

Can someone offer some sound advice on how they keep their emotions in check and resist going on "tilt" when a losing streak is in progress?

Last nite was the first nite I have not bet since October 24th as my internet was not up from the move. So I have seen just about everything. One of the most impressive things I can say is I have not a losing streak of over 3 days during that whole span. That doesn't mean I haven't had lots of ups and downs.

The streak is over. I was down -109 going into the last day of May and thought about doing a double down thing all nite long to have a winning month but instead bet normally and lost -690 for the nite, ending the streak.

I was down $2,588 on March 10th and had a winning month of +1,703. Got down-1,207 April 16th and won $2,973 for the month of April. That was the latest I was behind in a month when I was till down on the 17th of the month. Which I have estimated to be around 600 bets for the month. Never being behind (until May) in any month after the 17th tells me that eventually luck goes out the door after around 600 bets.

May was a horror story. I moved and got bust with a few other projects and my work ethic was horribile. I had a $2,070 losing nite (losing 18 striaght bets at one time) and came back the next nite and lost $499.

The whole point I am getting at is I did not flinch at all and I am not sure I could have done that a year ago and I am pretty sure most couldn't either. In my opinion this is by far without a question most bettors weakeness as they can't handle the losing. I have tried my hardest to read about this subject from stock market type books. You can't question what you are doing (if you know it works) and I have to tell myself to remeber that what I do works and eventually I will be ahead for the month.

I personally tried to help another bettor out and he just got to emotional as he played with scared money. Betting 30+ bets a nite and most bettors just get to INTO IT emotionally. If you can eliminate most of the emoition you than have a chance.

great explanation...with that much action you should know by now (sure seems like you do) and why would you bat an eye at this point? So you are down 7 units for a 30 day period , maybe you had to much going on...losing for a calander month means nothing at this point, for you....are you still betting between 1 - 2 units ?

Yes. I have some 3 unit plays but those are few and far between. I am still spinning my wheels on baseball and I lost last year in this sport. Though I will NEVER scalp in the current offshore enviroment I would be way ahead doing it in bases.

With all the things that are going on in my life my I have not put the effort in lately that I have in the past and I 100% believe you get what you put into this and I did not deserve to win in May.

with the variance in what you do ice you should expect losing months every so often. I wouldn't expect to keep the 8-1 ratio

What ratio would you expect him to keep approx?

30 plays a day for 30 days is 900 plays. That is not so many that guarantees a profit even with a 1 or 2 percent advantage. I would think out of 10 months he can expect 3 months or so of negative months. He has been on the right side of the curve in a good 9 month run, but I would not expect it to repeat

If your play size is small (compared to bankroll), it's tough to go on tilt.

I had Seattle today, but the wager was so small, I was actually cheering for Texas to tie it and go to extra innings so Ichiro could extend his hit streak.

PS: Don't worry about cheering for the other team ... it really doesn't affect the result.
