a 3-2 final score in college football is downright laughable. its an abomination that sec fans take pride in keeping the total of an sec game under 20. we all know what defense is, thats not an issue. but it shows there's really no effective and consistent offense in the sec excluding 3 or 4 teams...any sec team who would play usc = thrashing

don't mistake lack of offense for good defense.

The SEC doesn't have the same caliber of athletes on the offensive side of the ball.

That was the same logic that everyone used when they had Hawaii sticking with Georgia last year. These "high power" Pac10 offenses (lets leave USC out of this one) just don't match up well against power schools.

In that game I had GA for limits at 3 different numbers. "The Island" never has a DEFENSE, that is a lot different than not having offensive firepower. The run and shoot, spread type offenses don't work too well if the line can't give the QB time and/or if they can't run block to keep the D honest. Just ask Texas Tech...

The pollsters may have 5 SEC teams in the top 10 now...but will probably only have 2 there by the end of they year. The polls are a joke anyways which is why there is the BCS now. Florida is a legit top 5 school, right now. GA is maybe a top 10. It's really hard to rationalize that the SEC is the best conference when you have Tennessee losing to UCLA. The SEC is the most ENTERTAINING conference, not the best. It has the highest number of mediocre-to-above average teams almost every year. SEC guys always complain about how hard it is to go undefeated in conference, but that's because none of the teams are usually that stellar, the top teams are near-equals, top 10 teams, but not #1's. It's reflected in the point spreads, and why taking double digit dogs in the SEC is smart money.

That's not correct at all. The SEC is the best because on any given weekend any team can beat the other. You just don't see that in other conferences. You have to show up to play Vandy and MSU or they will beat you. You don't see that from cellar dwellers of other conferences. (At least not with regularity)

...and Texas is pissed because they FINALLY got an SEC school to sign an OOC game. And look at Arkansas. Texas would have been better off sticking with an in-state school. The Razorbacks will most likely drop the 'Horns strength of schedule significantly. Scheduling Houston, TCU, hell maybe even SMU would have been an improvement...The SEC doesn't want any part of scheduling BigXII schools for the most part, they have a hard enough time with the Pac10, and they can't afford to lose any more of the recruiting battle than they already have been.

Take Florida out of the picture. Maybe Georgia. Any of the remaining teams would be within 2 TD's of each other. You would have at least 5 teams probably 6, in the BigXII at least 3 TD's better than the bottom of the SEC. The SEC beats each other up b/c of parity. That doesn't mean they can beat anyone else.

Then why did they dominate the bowls last year and blowout the last two national championship games?

Unless you are somehow betting last year's games that is insignificant. I am assuming the talk is regarding THIS year, games with live numbers. But, you are right, LAST year the consensus agreed, was a down year for NCAA football, with a 2 loss mythical champion. Until the SEC, as you say, stops RUNNING, from upper level OOC teams, it will be tough for them to get back to the title game unless a team RUNS the table. But this is what I'm mainly referring to:

The 10th best team in the sec may be better than the 10th best team in another conference, but I would take OU, Mo., or Tx against any of the sec teams. Their no better at the top than the Big 12. SEC will never equal the Big 8 record of ending the season rated Neb #! OU #2 Col #3. This must be the whine zone.

I concur billy but I am a bit of homer living here in texas. But athletically those teams can compete with any of the SEC. Tex would be a much better if Mack didnt coddle his players so much
