SEC Hits A New Low In Scheduling

My question is, "So what?"

UF plays in the SEC. They play 1 of their games in Jacksonville EVERY year (which eliminates a home game every other year). They play FSU, arguably one of the toughest teams over the last 30 years (top 5). And a PAC12 fan has a problem with it? Who cares?? Seriously. UF plays LSU, UGA, South Carolina, Tennessee, Missouri, and FSU every single year. That schedule alone would make P12 teams cry tears and hope for 6-6 seasons. Plus you add in a West game vs. Bama....or any of the West teams, hell they are all good! But a P12 fan has the BALLS to question UF's schedule? But Conan has "known this for years"?? So what?

Florida has one of the top 10 athletic budgets in the country. If they give up a home game they lose 1/7th of their football revenue. It's not happening. The Michigan game is neutral site, they'll get paid well for that. They play Miami occasionally. But a P12 fan "knows" that UF plays a soft schedule?

More than 75% of D1 teams schedule a 1AA team. Did you KNOW that Conan??

Again, SEC teams have no one to apologize to about their schedules! NO ONE! Especially the Pac 12!

How about joining with the humans and just getting the show out on the road? Wouldn't that suit everyone?
Pac-12 or otherwise, it still is what it is. Fans all over the country would pay BIG BIG money to put games like
those, a home home vs a top 10 team on the road etc. I bet you would be watching.

That's easy to say Conan. Did you read my post? Do you or I make the athletic budget at UF? Did you see where UF loses a home game every other year due to the FL/GA game being played in Jacksonville? That's the main reason....plus the annual home-and-home w/ FSU. Those TWO reasons are why UF doesn't travel....and THEY DON'T HAVE TO! Why don't you understand that? UF admin and UF fans certainly don't give 2 shits what a PAC12 fan thinks. That's the most certain thing in this entire thread!!!!

But seriously, why don't you understand that UF has 2 issues restraining them from playing OOC games: FL/GA in Jacksonville and FSU. And honestly, if UF dropped FSU to play one of these so-called "big OOC games" people would then say that UF is dodging FSU!! It's a no-win for UF. The schedule is fine as it is. The SEC schedule alone EARNS Florida (and all other SEC teams) the right to play a few patsies..... Too bad PAC12 fan is too stupid to understand that.

The SEC, notorious in scheduling cream puffs, hit a new low today. They decided that both Notre Dae and BYU would be considered Power Five teams and scheduling them would cover the requirement that each SEC team play at least one out of conference power team a season. So what is wrong with that you might ask? It is the third team that they gave power 5 status to. Army. Thats right. ARMY, who has not defeated Navy in 15 years. That Army.

Even Florida would schedule a roadine at Army. How chicken s**t is this? I guess the SEC finally reasalizes that it is NOT the best onference around. Anhy SEc team that schedules Army as their Power 5 non-con opponent should be immediately dismissed from consideration for the playoffs no matter what their record turns out to be. How emarraseing this must be for Clover and all of the SEC followers in here who thought that they had the best conference ever. I can see it now. Auburn University has scheduled Army to open the 2023 season in Dallas. Auburn will arm two Combat Divisions as payment for playing the Cadets. Does ANY SEC fan want to try and defend this?

As a non SEC guy being an ohio state fan.. seems if you dont follow an sec team you hate the conference which is crazy.. every year there is this debate about the best conference and I just shake my head... there is not a close second to the sec.. Ohio State won it all last year but that did not make the BIG the best conference, just had the best team. Team for Team, man for man, there is no other conference close to the size, speed, athleticism, etc of the SEC. If Ohio State is not playing I watch sec football, the big sucks .. other then osu, msu, wisky.. what has there consistently been ? nothing? i have family in the south a good friends son plays at ole miss.. the best football is in the sec and if i had to play that conference schedule i would not play another power 5 school...my guys would need a break to physically heal up... one thing i dont like is when they play the easy ones late in the year before a rival game, but nothing illegal about. Have to put your team in the best position to win. SEC is still the best conference in america and will be for a very long time. they may not win the championship every year but that does not dismiss the body of work playing in the conference.

Very much agree. Glad you're not so blind. I imagine Urban Meyer would be the first non-SEC coach to admit as much.

Bucks......you have always 1st class and know the game.....do you think OSU wins the natty if Miller doesn't go out? Had a conversation with a OSU colleague the other day and he told me no way. It was an interesting discussion. In my opinion Urban is the best coach in the game.....and has been since he was a Utah. Can't say I miss him much in the SECE.

I do not think they win it with miller, horrible passing skills and does not read the field. JT was coming around but can't say they win with him. Jones was the difference maker, and there was little film on him. I know there is no way they beat bama with out his big arm. The running game is solid as we sW but he made u defend the whole filed. He has a cannon for an arm and can put it where he wants. Bama - OSU was a great game. I know bama fans wanted to hang Kiiffin but they scored points. I was not a fan of UM until they won Champioship, he has convinced me he is the best coach in America. I mean no disrespect to Bama but I don't think Saban is even a top 5 on the list. He is #1 in recruiting no doubt and with that amount of sick talent they should not lose. He is not an x and o guy and I think strong is questionable on D. I thought kiffin did ok with the QB he had.. I also think they put to much on the WR, was just surprised no other teams took him out of the game the way OSU did. They don't beat bama with miller or JT jones was the ace in the whole making them defend the long ball and they took away the bama strength on defense. Interior line and lb'ers they rarely ran at them went outside and made them chase from behind. That was still a great bama team, imo #2 team in the country. They smash Oregon as OSU did, and they leave TCU for dead.. And Baylor. Also think OSU beats oregon with any of the 3 QB's. Good team but I still don't think you can win with that offense. They pressured mm and made him get off his #1 receiver when 90% of their pass plays are predetermined in huddle. Kid has great skill just needs to learn how to play the game above his shoulders and not with his feet. In the NFL we all know what happens to running QB's. I give Oregon much more credit the. Others, great skill and speed. Need to work on OL and DL.. More dept. by the end of OSU game their dline was on life support. They are not going anywhere in the pac and may be better served with an offense more like OSU, let the QB be a threat but not the man.

Up here in ohio all urban talks about is sec, sometimes to much.. He says if u r going to win and compete with the SeC u have to recruit much better. I think big coaches hate him ( maybe not dantonio ) he says it all the time wtf are other coaches in the conference doing? Need to pick it up.. He places the sec on a pedestal and says this is we want to be, built like an sec team.

Meyer is right. I've been saying the same thing in here for years. The only difference between the SEC and the other conferences isn't magical coaching, it's recruiting. Learn to recruit like the SEC and you can beat the SEC. I think we found that out in this first playoff.

ND has really improved too since the beating bama gave them, its just depth, a few injuries and it kills a season, we see it every where.. ohio state was very lucky the way thngs worked out and because they had to go to the third it was almost an edge, no one knew what and the hell the kid could do.. he is a horse. after the wisky conf champ game that gave saban nothing to look at because the game was so lopsided..
