will be interesting to see Hansen vs Cornwell. I know OU love Hansen but in this day and age you need 3-4 big time QB's on campus at the same time, every single year. Still don't understand how they could let a kid leave Norman without a fight.
OU already had 3 bigtime QB's. Knight, Thomas, and Thompson. Also Blake Bell since he was also a highly recruited player, and still listed at QB until they moved him to TE for next season. And then Hansen made 4. Plus Baker Mayfield walked on from Texas Tech. QB is NOT an issue with OU. In fact there were too many in camp. That's why Thompson decided to transfer. Also with the direction OU is going on offense, Cornwell didn't fit the system. If you go back and re-watch the Cotton Bowl A&M win over OU last year, it will become clear why Cornwell (Landry Jones) was not the answer. OU needed a mobile QB. OU actually started the season with the offense that they finished with and Knight started at QB over Bell until he got hurt. Then Bell took over and had two good games until the defenses caught on that he wasn't a mobile QB or a pocket passer who can read defenses. And it came to a head against Texas. After that game OU switched back to a QB read option offense with Knight back at QB. This is going to be OU's offense for at least the near future because every QB OU has in camp is mobile dual-threat QB. So they weren't going to waste a scholly on Cornwell. From the film that I've seen of Cornwell, he definitely has a big arm. But there were some questions with him. Yes, he did play HS football under Stoops nose. But he didn't move to Norman until the last 6 months of his HS career. And he got hurt in his last season, and didn't look particularly good when he moved up in class and played 6A ball for Norman North. Plus there was a few intangibles that were mainly internet fodder that I kept hearing about with his his personality, said some egotistical stuff etc. Plus he moved a lot. Not as much a leader on his team as Hansen. Hansen was a standout two sport kid. Also basketball. Throwing ability, both check there. Ability with their feet-this is the new emphasis, but Hansen has it, Cornwell doesn't. But I don't think he'll need it at Alabama.
