Apparently it's the REPEATED trauma to the brain that causes irreparable damage .

Not an isolated incident .

Pretty scary these concussions : had a kid a few years ago missed the entire hockey season . It was his second concussion . Headaches, severe light sensitivity , according to parents struggled at school . Was a great kid , hellava player too . Didn't come back the following year

(That CTE information you provided was available for the judges to maul over )

Do you think servicemembers that take their own lives because of PTSD can sue the DoD?

No....but I think the VA can help and do a lot more than they currently do...I hope that the VA is one of the main issues in the next election...

I have to be honest Ricboff, I don't find legal rulings in this country to carry any weight in the medical arena. I also believe the NFL should be held somewhat responsible for withholding their own findings, so there's other variables in play. Trauma causes CTE, people know more about it today than we did a few years ago, but you're going to see players choosing to play in the NFL. Is the NFL responsible for players who develop CTE in the future? I think the research in this area is just in it's infancy. I'm also uncertain as to how science can expand their research on living people to improve grow their knowledge base.

For now, I cannot argue with your suggestion that people might want to avoid football, that's not bad advice. But it's kinda in the same vein as people should avoid liquor or red meats or boxing or accidents :) or anything that involves shaking your head quickly (OK, maybe I'm embellishing, but just a tad)

I think Trump has said veterans can now use other medical facilities and hospitals, not just the VA. I agree with you, we should provide much more to our veterans. From wages to pensions to healthcare

why would they be? They have acknowledged the strong association of head trauma and irreversible brain damage and warned their employees. Have taken precautions in-game as a player does not go back on the field if he has concussion symptoms and only goes back if/when cleared by a MD.

if a person feels the health risks are too dire given salary to play professional football ? choose another profession
