When protests turn unlawful and/or violent, the police have the authority to clear out an area.
The video clearly shows a war zone type atmosphere. Fireworks being shot at police. Rioters running at police. Etc.
If rioters approach police in an aggressive manner as they did in this video, and do not comply with demands to clear the area, they subject themselves to the use of force by the authorities. I thought this was common knowledge?
