Northern Iowa -2 - I give props to this SIU team as they are having a good year and are a talented team. I only have one problem with this game that really keeps getting my attention. The schedules. These teams are very similar in stats all over the board but its who they've done it against that I think will make the difference in this game. N. Iowa has played teams like Richmond, George Mason, New Mexico, North Carolina, Iowa State, Washington State, Hawaii and BYU. They have already found a way to beat UNC and Iowa State which are two of the premier schools in the country. Meanwhile, SIU has played lets see.... hmm... Oakland and Air Force and a bunch of other very mediocre teams. Their is a reason that majority of the elite smaller teams like N. Iowa stay elite and thats because they challenge themselves year in and year out in their non conference schedules. They force themselves to learn and get better and that right there is why they are able to get recruits by playing huge non conference schedules. Like I said I absolutely love that SIU is having a good year being from Illinois myself but I even being at home this should by far the hardest team they have faced all year. The only thing they have going for them is the gym will be packed and SIU can get rowdy especially when the best team in the conference is coming to town. Not going to be enough though if you haven't pushed yourself enough to challenge your players and teach them lessons in non conference. N. Iowa wins this one as it is crucial to them staying atop the Missouri Valley and taking that #1 seed at the end of the year.
