The Walker Group Picks

# 5 COWBOY'S MARY L 6/1

# 1 MONGOL CALL 3/1

# 2 LETS TANGO 5/1

I've got to go with COWBOY'S MARY L. Overall the Equibase speed figs of this animal look quite good in this race. This equine is highly ranked this group of animals in earnings per start at the distance/surface. Don't let this mare slip past you. Could score at a big price. MONGOL CALL - Her 59 average has this filly with among the top Equibase Speed Figures in this competition. Handler has solid win rate (31 percent) at this distance and surface. LETS TANGO - Has to be carefully examined against this group displaying decent numbers as of late and an average Equibase speed fig of 57 under similar conditions. The Equibase Speed Figure of 64 from her latest affair looks very strong in here.

Kentucky Downs - Race #5 - Post: 3:37pm - Allowance - 8.3 furlongs on the Turf. Purse: $140,000 Class Rating: 95

Rating: 3

#6 WOLF GOURMET (ML=6/1)
#5 QUEEN ANNE'S LACE (ML=12/1)
#14 AMERICAN COWGIRL (ML=10/1)

WOLF GOURMET - Have to give this filly a shot. Ran a nice contest in the last race within the last 30 days. You have to expect a better performance out of this filly in today's event. She put in a good effort on the backstretch on Aug 5th only to run evenly in the stretch drive. I may not be the best handicapper in the world, but I know a good racer when I see one. Last three races before this one have been great for this horse. Based on that, should do well in today's race. I like the fact that this filly's last speed figure, 98, is tops in this bunch. QUEEN ANNE'S LACE - This filly is in superb form right now. Finished third in the last race and comes back quickly. I expect a lot from this horse. Her speed figures under similar conditions are tops in this group. It is my opinion that fillys run better the second time they get Lasix. Fernandez puts this filly on it for the second time today, so give this one a look. AMERICAN COWGIRL - Strong average class rating on this horse. Should have the class ability to run well on the turf.

Vulnerable Contenders: #10 AWESOME BOSS (ML=4/1), #9 PROUD REUNION (ML=9/2), #2 INTO SUMMER (ML=5/1),

AWESOME BOSS - The finish of fourth in the last affair shows me that this horse may be losing physical conditioning. PROUD REUNION - Not likely that the speed rating she garnered on August 3rd will hold up in this affair. INTO SUMMER - Not likely that the speed figure she garnered on August 3rd will hold up in this event.

#1 MAD BUM (ML=8/1)
#6 LAUGHING BEST (ML=5/2)
#3 WORLD VIEW (ML=8/5)

MAD BUM - Strong return on investment for this jockey and trainer twosome. The addition of the 'hood' should keep his mind on business today. LAUGHING BEST - Gelding took a little vacation, but has been racing into shape. This gelding is in exceptional physical condition right now. Ended up third in the last race and comes back soon. I like the case that this gelding's last speed figure, 78, is tops in this group. WORLD VIEW - I really like sprinters that make a quick turnaround. This gelding is in fine physical condition, having run a nice race on August 24th, finishing second.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 VEGAS APPEAL (ML=9/2), #5 IGNOTUS (ML=5/1), #4 ECLIPTICALS WOLF (ML=8/1),

VEGAS APPEAL - Tough for me to be betting on this sort of maiden breaker. IGNOTUS - The Brain always tells me to stay away from horses in short distance affairs that haven't finished in the money in short distance events lately. I'd like to see better recent showings with morning line odds of 5/1. This colt notched a speed rating in his last clash which likely isn't good enough in today's race. ECLIPTICALS WOLF - Hard to wager on any entrant to turn things around if there is no value to taking the shot. The Brain always tells me to keep away from horses in short distance contests that haven't finished in the money in short distance affairs of late.

STRAIGHT WAGERS:
#1 MAD BUM is the play if we get odds of 3/1 or better

RECOMMENDED CHOICES
The Walker Group Picks

# 7 JZOOMIN SCOOT 2/1

# 4 SOUTHERN CCC 8/1

# 1 ROLLING KETEL 10/1

My pick here is JZOOMIN SCOOT. Should be considered for this event if only for the respectable Equibase Speed Fig put up in the last contest. Has a sharp record at the distance and surface, which makes me like this gelding. SOUTHERN CCC - Always hard to beat Danley and Sigala working together, winning 22 percent of their races. Sigala will almost certainly be able to get this gelding to break out early in here. ROLLING KETEL - Win percentage one of the best in this field. Has been running admirably lately and will almost certainly be up near the front end early on.

Horses bred by Belair won every major stakes in America as well as the Epsom Oaks, St. Leger Stakes, and 1000 Guineas in Great Britain.
