Preview: Rangers at Blue Jays

GAME: Texas Rangers (37-37) at Toronto Blue Jays (40-35)
DATE/TIME: Saturday, June 27 - 1:07 PM EST
WHERE: Rogers Centre, Toronto, Ontario
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Toronto Blue Jays wasted little time flexing their offensive muscles in the series opener while sending the Texas Rangers to their season-high sixth straight defeat. After belting four homers in a 12-2 rout, the Blue Jays will look for more of the same when they continue their three-game set against the visiting Rangers on Saturday afternoon.

Edwin Encarnacion belted both a grand slam and a solo shot for his 20th career multi-homer performance to improve to 9-for-27 in his last seven games. The 32-year-old Dominican has also enjoyed considerable success versus Saturday starter Yovani Gallardo, with three of his four hits leaving the park. While the Blue Jays are a blistering 17-7 in June and won 11 of their last 14 meetings with Texas, the Rangers have been seen their pitching shredded for 34 runs in their last four games overall. Prince Fielder highlighted his third straight two-hit performance with his 300th career homer as Texas (37-37) tumbled to .500 for the first time since May 30.

TV: 1:07 p.m. ET, FSN Southwest (Texas), RSN (Toronto)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rangers RH Yovani Gallardo (6-6, 2.98 ERA) vs. Blue Jays LH Matt Boyd (major-league debut)

Gallardo recorded his second straight scoreless outing on Sunday, scattering five hits in as many innings in a no-decision versus the Chicago White Sox. The 29-year-old is 3-0 in his last six starts, yielding just five earned runs and striking out 32 in 37 innings. Gallardo won his lone career start versus Toronto, permitting three runs and fanning seven in 6 2/3 innings.

Boyd has been confirmed to make his major-league debut with right-hander Aaron Sanchez sidelined by a strained back muscle. Recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, the 24-year-old split a pair of decisions with the Bisons - allowing just one run in each and striking out 12. Prior to his stint in Triple-A, Boyd had posted a 6-1 mark with a 1.10 ERA in 12 starts with Double-A New Hampshire of the Eastern League.

WALK-OFFS

1. Toronto RF Jose Bautista is 0-for-10 in his last three games after going deep on both Sunday and Monday.

2. Texas RHP Matt Harrison (back) tossed a 35-pitch bullpen session prior to Friday's game and is expected to repeat the feat on Sunday.

3. Blue Jays rookie 2B Devon Travis went 1-for-4 with a run scored in his return from a left shoulder injury.

PREDICTION: Blue Jays 5, Rangers 2

Preview: Twins at Brewers

GAME: Minnesota Twins (39-34) at Milwaukee Brewers (28-47)
DATE/TIME: Saturday, June 27 - 2:10 PM EST
WHERE: Miller Park, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
LINE: 109, -118 TOTAL: 8

The Milwaukee Brewers have not gotten the better of many teams this season but can claim regional superiority with one more win this weekend. The Brewers attempt to wrap up their second series win over the Minnesota Twins when they host the second contest of their three-game interleague set on Saturday.

Milwaukee, which took two of three in Minnesota from June 5-7, pounded out 10 runs in the first two innings of Friday’s series opener and cruised to a 10-4 triumph. The outburst, which included three home runs, marked the Brewers’ biggest since a 10-5 win over the Twins on June 5. Minnesota has lost five of its last six road games and four of six overall while dealing with some inconsistency among its starting pitchers. The Twins will try to pick things up against the struggling Matt Garza on Saturday, while Kyle Gibson starts for Minnesota.

TV: 2:10 p.m. ET, FSN North (Minnesota), FSN Wisconsin (Milwaukee)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Twins RH Kyle Gibson (4-6, 3.35 ERA) vs. Brewers RH Matt Garza (4-9, 5.48)

Gibson is 0-3 in four starts this month but was solid against the Chicago Cubs on Sunday, allowing two runs in five innings. The Missouri product issued three walks in that turn and has handed out seven free passes in 17 frames over his last three outings. Gibson’s rough month began against Milwaukee on June 5, when he was lit up for five runs on six hits – three homers – in seven innings.

Garza is coming off a pair of horrible starts in which he was ripped for a total of 16 runs (13 earned) and 26 hits in 12 innings. The veteran surrendered fewer than two earned runs in each of his three previous turns and is at least keeping the ball in the zone as he hasn't issued a walk since May 31. Garza, who came up to the major leagues with the Twins, yielded one run on six hits in seven innings to beat Minnesota on June 6.

WALK-OFFS

1. The Twins placed CF Byron Buxton (sprained left thumb) on the 15-day disabled list on Friday and expect the top prospect to miss at least a month.

2. Milwaukee 2B Scooter Gennett has homered in two of his last three games.

3. Minnesota RHP Ricky Nolasco (elbow inflammation) struggled through a bullpen session on Friday.

PREDICTION: Twins 7, Brewers 4

These clubs love going Under totals

When the Texas Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays have met recently, Under bettors have been profiting.

The Under is 9-2 in the last 11 contests between the two clubs. They'll face off once again Saturday where Matt Boyd and Yovani Gallardo take the bump for the Jays and Rangers, respectively.

As of this writing, the line was off the board.

GAME: Washington Nationals (41-33) at Philadelphia Phillies (26-49)
DATE/TIME: Saturday, June 27 - 3:05 PM EST
WHERE: Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
LINE: -173, 159 TOTAL: 8

The Washington Nationals need to look no further than their scintillating starting pitching as the primary reason for their season-high seven-game winning streak. Although the rotation's scoreless stretch ended at a franchise-best 48 innings in the series opener, Washington expects to pick up where it left off as left-hander Gio Gonzalez takes the mound against the host Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday.

Max Scherzer continued his dominating run on the mound and Michael Taylor ripped a double among his two hits and scored twice as the Nationals breezed to a 5-2 triumph on Friday. Taylor is 11-for-27 with six runs scored during his seven-game hitting streak for National League East-leading Washington, which has outscored its foes by a 36-7 margin during its winning stretch. Philadelphia is obviously singing a different tune having dropped 16 of its last 21 to sit comfortably in the cellar. Ryne Sandberg saw the writing on the wall and abruptly resigned prior to the series opener, putting Pete Mackanin in the interim manager's role for at least the weekend.

TV: 3:05 p.m. ET, MASN (Washington), CSN Philadelphia

PITCHING MATCHUP: Nationals LH Gio Gonzalez (5-4, 4.41 ERA) vs. Phillies LH Adam Morgan (1-0, 1.59)

Gonzalez posted his first win in nearly one month on Sunday as he scattered four hits over seven scoreless innings en route to a 9-2 victory over Pittsburgh. The 29-year-old looks to build off that solid performance when he faces the Phillies, against whom he improved to 7-5 in his career after allowing just one run in 6 1/3 frames in a 4-1 win on May 24. Gonzalez would be wise to keep an eye on Ben Revere, who belted a pinch-hit homer on Friday and is 10-for-25 (.400) in his career versus the hurler.

Morgan made the most of his major-league debut on Sunday, permitting a solo homer for the lone run he allowed in 5 2/3 innings to pick up the win against St. Louis. The 25-year-old ended the Phillies' franchise-record 25-game stretch of going without a victory by a starting pitcher, which is interesting because Morgan was 0-6 in 13 starts at Triple-A Lehigh Valley before being called up due to injuries in the rotation. Sandberg credited both Morgan's command with his fastball and his poise after he struck out six in the win.

WALK-OFFS

1. Nationals OF Bryce Harper's ailing right hamstring was "better, but still a little tight," manager Matt Williams told CSN Washington prior to the superstar missing his second game.

2. Philadelphia rookie 3B Maikel Franco is hitless in his last eight at-bats after going 13-for-21 with three homers and 11 RBIs during a five-game stretch.

3. Nationals INF Anthony Rendon was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left quadriceps strain.

GAME: Colorado Rockies (33-40) at San Francisco Giants (40-35)
DATE/TIME: Saturday, June 27 - 4:05 PM EST
WHERE: AT&T Park, San Francisco, California
LINE: 125, -135 TOTAL: 7

Colorado's best players are performing as such, and while it might not be enough for the Rockies to seriously contend in the National League West, it could pay off down the road. Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez — candidates to be moved prior to next month's trade deadline — and budding superstar Nolan Arenado look to stay hot as Colorado visits the San Francisco Giants on Saturday in the middle contest of their three-game series.

Gonzalez returned to the lineup after missing three games because of a left hand sprain and matched a career high with five hits, and Arenado has 22 home runs and 64 RBIs after belting a pair of home runs to extend his hitting streak to 13 games in the Rockies' 8-6 victory Friday. Tulowitzki, who would likely attract the most interest from other teams, owns a 10-game hitting streak while helping last-place Colorado (33-40) win five of its last six contests. San Francisco (40-35), which is two games behind Los Angeles in the NL West, is 3-9 at home in June and an uncharacteristic 19-20 at AT&T Park this season. San Francisco's Tim Lincecum is coming off the shortest start of his career and opposes Chris Rusin, who won his last outing after getting battered in two consecutive turns.

TV: 4:05 p.m. ET, ROOT (Colorado), CSN Bay Area (San Francisco)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rockies LH Chris Rusin (3-2, 5.03 ERA) vs. Giants RH Tim Lincecum (7-4, 3.86)

Rusin allowed three runs in six innings of a 10-4 victory over Milwaukee on Sunday in his fifth start of the season. The 28-year-old Michigan native permitted 20 hits and 13 runs in a combined 9 1/3 innings in losses at Houston (8-5) on June 16 and to Miami (6-0) on June 11. Rusin received a no-decision in his only start against San Francisco when he yielded three hits in seven shutout innings of a 1-0 victory July 27, 2013, at AT&T Park.

Lincecum permitted five runs and seven hits in 1 1/3 innings of a 10-2 loss to Los Angeles at Dodger Stadium on Sunday. The 31-year-old Washington native is 11-10 with a 3.96 ERA and 181 strikeouts in 181 2/3 innings covering 29 starts against Colorado, including a 4-2 loss April 15 when he yielded four runs (three earned) in five innings. Lincecum fares well against Tulowitzki (15-for-60, two home runs, 11 RBIs), but struggles with Arenado (5-for-12, home run).

WALK-OFFS

1. Gonzalez improved his average to .224 in 47 contests at AT&T Park.

2. Giants C Buster Posey is batting .366 in 81 games versus the Rockies, but is 7-for-32 in nine contests this season.

3. Colorado is 7-3 versus San Francisco in 2015, including 4-0 at AT&T Park.

Preview: Braves at Pirates

GAME: Atlanta Braves (35-39) at Pittsburgh Pirates (41-32)
DATE/TIME: Saturday, June 27 - 4:05 PM EST
WHERE: PNC Park, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
LINE: 147, -160 TOTAL: 7

Julio Teheran put forth his best start of an uneven 2015 his last time out, and the Atlanta Braves really need the 24-year-old to step forward when the Braves play at the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday. The Pirates won Friday’s series opener 3-2 in 10 innings, handing Atlanta its fourth consecutive loss and dropping the Braves six games out in the National League East.

While the Braves continue to struggle – having scored only five runs in their past five games – the Pirates look to heat up again after winning for just the second time in seven games. Pittsburgh is a major league-leading 28-16 since May 9. Jordy Mercer has five hits in his past two games after going 3-for-26 in his previous eight contests, and he delivered the game-winning RBI double Friday. Andrew McCutchen is 7-for-16 in his past five games and is hitting .355 since May 6, raising his season average to .295.

TV: 4:05 p.m. ET, FSN South (Atlanta), ROOT Sports (Pittsburgh)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Braves RH Julio Teheran (5-3, 4.67 ERA) vs. Pirates RH Charlie Morton (5-1, 3.97)

Teheran held the Mets to one hit in seven scoreless innings Sunday, earning the win as Atlanta won 1-0 – the Braves’ most recent victory. He posted a 6.97 ERA in his previous five starts, giving up 36 hits in 31 innings. Teheran surrendered four runs on five hits in 7 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Pirates on June 6 in Atlanta.

Morton did not survive the first inning Sunday against the Nationals, giving up nine runs on eight hits while recording only two outs. That rough showing snapped a five-start winning streak for Morton, who had given up just six earned runs in 33 1/3 innings before Sunday. One of those victories came against the Braves on June 5 in Atlanta, a 10-8 Pittsburgh victory in which Morton gave up four runs (three earned) in five innings.

WALK-OFFS

1. Both teams placed relievers on the disabled list Friday, as Atlanta’s Brandon Cunniff (right groin strain) and Pittsburgh’s Rob Scahill (right forearm tightness) landed on the DL.

2. Atlanta turned one double play Friday, its major league-best 84th of the season.

3. Pittsburgh C Francisco Cervelli, who led the NL with a .377 batting average in May, has just two hits in his past 15 at-bats.

Preview: Royals at Athletics

GAME: Kansas City Royals (42-28) at Oakland Athletics (34-42)
DATE/TIME: Saturday, June 27 - 4:05 PM EST
WHERE: O.co Coliseum, Oakland, California
LINE: 128, -139 TOTAL: 7.5

The Kansas City Royals look to continue their recent dominance over the Athletics on Saturday when the teams continue a three-game series in Oakland. The Royals defeated Oakland for the ninth time in their last 12 meetings Friday when they snapped the Athletics’ season-high five-game winning streak with a 5-2 victory.

The series opener had some lingering tension from the Athletics’ visit to Kansas City in April, when teams cleared the benches in all three games. Oakland catcher Stephen Vogt left Friday’s game in the ninth inning after being hit on the right wrist by a pitch from Franklin Morales, but an X-ray came back negative and he’s listed as day-to-day. While Oakland rookie outfielder Billy Burns was given Friday off to rest, Kansas City center fielder Lorenzo Cain returned to the lineup after missing one game with a hamstring strain. Third baseman Mike Moustakas is batting .375 with 10 RBIs during his 10-game hitting streak for the Royals, who have won eight of their last 11 to move 14 games over .500.

TV: 4:05 p.m. ET, FSN Kansas City, CSN California (Oakland)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Royals RH Chris Young (6-3, 2.83 ERA) vs. Athletics LH Scott Kazmir (4-4, 2.70)

Young is aiming to bounce back from a dismal outing against Boston on Sunday when he allowed a season-high seven runs over 4 2/3 innings and saw his ERA climb from 1.98 to 2.83. The 36-year-old has dropped three straight decisions against Oakland after starting with a 3-1 mark and a 2.52 ERA. Sam Fuld is 4-for-7 with two home runs against Young, who has a 16 1/3 inning scoreless stretch on the road.

Kazmir has been a key part of Oakland’s resurgence while going 2-1 with a 1.93 ERA over his last five starts. The 2014 All-Star has been dominant at home with a 3-1 record and 1.27 ERA in six outings. Omar Infante is 9-for-21 with two home runs against Kazmir, who is 4-7 with a 4.91 ERA in 18 career starts against Kansas City, including a solid outing on April 19 when he yielded two runs over 7 1/3 innings.

WALK-OFFS

1. Kansas City is 35-4 when scoring at least four runs.

2. Nine of Oakland’s last 12 losses have been by two runs or fewer.

3. Burns is batting .362 during his 15-game hitting streak.

Preview: White Sox at Tigers

GAME: Chicago White Sox (32-41) at Detroit Tigers (38-36)
DATE/TIME: Saturday, June 27 - 4:08 PM EST
WHERE: Comerica Park, Detroit, Michigan
LINE: 147, -160 TOTAL: 9.5

J.D. Martinez continued his remarkable power surge by belting the go-ahead homer to help the Detroit Tigers even their four-game series with the Chicago White Sox at one victory apiece. Martinez, who has gone deep six times in his last five games, looks to continue his offensive barrage when the American League Central rivals reconvene at Comerica Park on Saturday.

Martinez has 11 RBIs and seven runs scored in his last five contests and has gone deep once in eight career at-bats versus Saturday starter John Danks. Miguel Cabrera collected three doubles on Friday to improve to 10-for-20 with four runs scored during his five-game hitting streak for the Tigers, who have won four of their last six. The AL-worst White Sox haven't helped themselves on the road, going 3-10 in their last 13 to fall to 4-13 away from home versus division rivals. "I told my mother I wouldn't cuss in the newspaper any more, so I can't tell you," Chicago executive vice president Kenny Williams told MLB.com when asked of the team's level of frustration.

TV: 4:08 p.m. ET, CSN Chicago, FSN Detroit

PITCHING MATCHUP: White Sox LH John Danks (3-8, 5.38 ERA) vs. Tigers LH Kyle Ryan (1-1, 4.56)

Danks suffered his fourth straight loss in brutal fashion on Monday, allowing a season-high nine runs (five earned) on as many hits and three homers in 5 1/3 innings in a 13-2 setback to Minnesota. The 30-year-old has permitted 22 runs and 33 hits during his losing skid, which began with a dismal outing versus Detroit. Danks yielded five runs on a campaign-high 11 hits in just 4 2/3 frames to take the loss and fall to 6-11 in his career against the Tigers.

Ryan will get another crack at the White Sox, against whom he allowed two runs on three hits in seven innings in a no-decision on June 5. The 23-year-old will make his fourth start of the season, but has struggled in each of his last three outings. Ryan yielded three homers to take the loss on June 16 before getting touched for five runs on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings of relief in his last two appearances.

WALK-OFFS

1. Detroit 2B Ian Kinsler is 3-for-10 with a homer, two RBIs and two runs scored in the series.

2. Chicago SS Alexei Ramirez is 5-for-41 in his last 11 contests.

3. Tigers RHP Justin Verlander (back) is expected to participate in a bullpen session on Saturday.

GAME: New York Yankees (40-34) at Houston Astros (43-33)
DATE/TIME: Saturday, June 27 - 4:10 PM EST
WHERE: Minute Maid Park, Houston, Texas
LINE: -124, 115 TOTAL: 7.5

Masahiro Tanaka attempts to bounce back from his worst start of the season when the New York Yankees visit the Houston Astros on Saturday afternoon for the third contest of their four-game set. Houston native Chris Young continued his scorching success in his hometown by swatting a three-run homer Friday as the Yankees evened the series at one win apiece with a 3-2 victory.

Young is 5-for-8 in the series to boost his career average at Minute Maid Park to .409 with nine homers and 33 RBIs in 25 games. Tanaka will be making his fifth start since spending nearly six weeks on the disabled list due to a forearm strain. The native of Japan did not allow more than five hits in any of his first six outings this season but has been touched for a combined 19 in losing his last two turns. The Astros are 3-5 since a five-game winning streak, scoring three runs or fewer in each of the five defeats.

TV: 4:10 p.m. ET, MLBN, YES (New York), ROOT (Houston)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Yankees RH Masahiro Tanaka (4-3, 3.17 ERA) vs. Astros LH Brett Oberholtzer (2-1, 2.81)

Tanaka was treated rudely by Detroit in his last outing, serving up three homers for the first time while allowing seven runs on a career high-tying 10 hits over five innings. He had worked at least seven frames in each of his three previous turns since coming off the disabled list, going 2-1 while permitting a total of four runs. Tanaka has been outstanding on the road with a 2-1 mark and 1.32 ERA in four starts.

Oberholtzer struggled with his control last time out but stretched his unbeaten streak to three starts, overcoming four walks to allow two runs on four hits over 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision versus the Los Angeles Angels. He won his previous two outings, including a turn in which he scattered three hits over eight scoreless frames versus Seattle on June 12. Oberholtzer never has beaten New York, going 0-2 with a 4.96 ERA in three career starts.

WALK-OFFS

1. Young is 16-for-34 with two homers, eight RBIs and eight runs scored during his nine-game hitting streak.

2. Astros 2B Jose Altuve has hit safely in five straight contests while DH Evan Gattis has recorded five RBIs during his four-game hitting streak.

3. New York is 39-0 when leading after eight innings.

GAME: Boston Red Sox (33-42) at Tampa Bay Rays (41-34)
DATE/TIME: Saturday, June 27 - 4:10 PM EST
WHERE: Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg, Florida
LINE: 108, -117 TOTAL: 7.5

The Tampa Bay Rays are fighting off three teams in the American League East and can’t afford to drop a series to the team in last place. The Rays will try to avoid such an occurrence when they host the Boston Red Sox in the second of a three-game series on Saturday.

The Baltimore Orioles, Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees are all within one game of Tampa Bay in the East while the Red Sox sit eight games back in the division and nine games under .500. Those records did not matter much on Friday, when Brock Holt drove in the go-ahead run in the 10th inning to give Boston a 4-3 win in the series opener. The victory pushed the Red Sox to 12-23 in the East and gave them a chance to win a series against a division rival for the first time since taking two of three from Toronto on April 27-29. Boston will turn to left-hander Wade Miley on Saturday while the Rays counter with rookie Matt Andriese.

TV: 4:10 p.m. ET, NESN (Boston), Sun Sports (Tampa Bay)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Red Sox LH Wade Miley (7-6, 4.50 ERA) vs. Rays RH Matt Andriese (2-2, 3.79)

Miley put together back-to-back wins in his last two starts and is 6-2 in his last eight outings. The Louisiana native was at his best against the Royals on Sunday, when he scattered five hits and three walks over six scoreless innings. Miley worked 5 2/3 scoreless frames at Tampa Bay on April 21 and is 3-0 with a 0.47 ERA in three career starts against the Rays.

Andriese is filling in for Jake Odorizzi in the rotation and was reached for four runs on five hits in 5 1/3 innings to suffer a loss to the Blue Jays on Monday. The 25-year-old, who has yet to make it through the sixth inning, surrendered three home runs to Toronto. Andriese is making his first career appearance against Boston and is 1-2 with a 4.33 ERA in seven home games – four starts.

WALK-OFFS

1. Red Sox LF Hanley Ramirez (left wrist) has missed the last two games and is day-to-day.

2. Tampa Bay 2B Logan Forsythe recorded multiple hits six times in the last 10 games.

3. Boston CF Mookie Betts has hit safely in 13 straight games.

GAME: Cincinnati Reds (34-38) at New York Mets (38-37)
DATE/TIME: Saturday, June 27 - 4:10 PM EST
WHERE: Citi Field, New York City, New York
LINE: 155, -168 TOTAL: 6.5

The New York Mets have made the decision to shift to a six-man starting rotation for the "foreseeable future" and among the reasons is to reduce the workload of ace Matt Harvey in his first season back from Tommy John surgery. Harvey will be on the mound Saturday as the Mets continue their three-game series against the visiting Cincinnati Reds.

New York general manager Sandy Alderson on Friday laid out the team's plans for six starters, pointing to the need to manage the innings of Harvey and their other young pitchers. "If we were to continue with a five-man rotation, given the fact that he's pitched great - he’s pitched seven innings pretty regularly - those numbers get exceedingly high," Alderson said of Harvey. The Mets, who scored only 11 runs during their 1-7 road trip, continued to struggle at the plate with only two hits in the series opener but they were enough to produce a 2-1 victory. The Reds amassed 43 hits during their three-game series in Pittsburgh but were limited to five singles Friday in falling to 14-24 away from home.

TV: 4:10 p.m. ET, FSN Ohio (Cincinnati), WPIX (New York)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Reds RH Michael Lorenzen (3-2, 2.56 ERA) vs. Mets RH Matt Harvey (7-5, 3.18)

Lorenzen matched his longest outing of the season by limiting the Miami Marlins to two runs over seven innings Sunday to win his second straight start. The 23-year-old rookie displayed much better control, walking only one batter after issuing at least three base on balls over his previous five turns. Lorenzen has been tough on right-handed batters, holding them to a collective .213 batting average.

Harvey appears to be back on track following a rocky four-start stretch in which he posted a 1-3 record and was tagged for 20 runs and eight homers over 25 innings. He was a hard-luck loser in a 1-0 setback at Atlanta on Sunday despite surrendering one run on six hits in 6 2/3 innings. That came on the heels of seven scoreless innings of four-hit ball versus Toronto on June 16, which boosted Harvey's home record to 4-2 in seven starts.

WALK-OFFS

1. Mets RF Curtis Granderson has homered four times in the last six games.

2. Reds 2B Brandon Phillips has hit safely in all 30 of his career road games versus New York.

3. Mets 3B Ruben Tejada exited Friday's game after he was hit in the elbow by a pitch but X-rays were negative.

GAME: Los Angeles Dodgers (42-33) at Miami Marlins (30-45)
DATE/TIME: Saturday, June 27 - 4:10 PM EST
WHERE: Marlins Park, Miami, Florida
LINE: -208, 190 TOTAL: 6.5

Giancarlo Stanton and Dee Gordon are doing their best to jumpstart the Miami Marlins offense but aren’t getting much help. The Marlins will try to snap a five-game slide and even the series at one win apiece when they host the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday.

Miami has scored one run in each of its last three games after a 7-1 setback in Friday’s opener, and three or fewer in each of the last five. Gordon did his part with half of the Marlins’ six hits on Friday but Stanton went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts and went for X-rays on his left hand after the game. The Dodgers are winners of three straight and have allowed a total of three runs in those contests. Trying to keep that streak alive while going up against Miami’s struggling offense on Saturday is ace Clayton Kershaw, who will be opposed by Marlins right-hander Tom Koehler.

TV: 4:10 p.m. ET, SportsNet Los Angeles, FSN Florida (Miami)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Dodgers LH Clayton Kershaw (5-5, 3.33 ERA) vs. Marlins RH Tom Koehler (5-4, 3.76)

Kershaw is winless in his last three starts and fell at the Chicago Cubs on Monday while allowing three runs on four hits and a pair of walks in seven innings. The reigning Cy Young Award winner surrendered a pair of home runs in that outing and yielded four in this last three turns. Kershaw is 5-1 with a 1.99 ERA in seven career starts against the Marlins.

Koehler missed his last turn due to a stiff neck and is trying to find some consistency. The New York native is 2-1 in his last three starts and sandwiched a pair of seven-inning, one-run outings around a start at Toronto on June 10 in which he was lit up for six runs (five earned) in 6 2/3 frames. Koehler is 1-2 despite a 2.91 ERA in four career starts against Los Angeles.

WALK-OFFS

1. Dodgers RF Yasiel Puig (hand) missed his third straight start on Friday and is day-to-day.

2. Miami RHP Jose Fernandez (Tommy John surgery) is scheduled to make his final rehab start on Saturday for Double-A Jacksonville.

3. Los Angeles RHP Pedro Baez (pectoral) was activated from the 15-day DL on Friday and struck out the side in one inning of work.

Preview: Cubs at Cardinals

GAME: Chicago Cubs (39-33) at St. Louis Cardinals (49-24)
DATE/TIME: Saturday, June 27 - 7:15 PM EST
WHERE: Busch Stadium, St. Louis, Missouri
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The St. Louis Cardinals have been nearly unbeatable at home, where they aim for an eighth consecutive victory when they face the Chicago Cubs on Saturday. The Cardinals won their seventh straight at home and fourth in a row overall by rallying for a 3-2 triumph in 10 innings in Friday's series opener.

St. Louis found an unlikely hero Friday in rookie Greg Garcia, whose pinch-hit homer leading off the eighth inning tied the game. The late collapse by the bullpen was a big blow to the Cubs, who badly needed to win the opener with the inexperienced Donn Roach slated to make a spot start in place of an injured Tsuyoshi Wada on Saturday. Michael Wacha gets the start for the Cardinals at Busch Stadium, where he is 10-2 with a 2.51 ERA in his career. Cubs stars Anthony Rizzo (4-for-11, homer) and Starlin Castro (5-for-11, homer) have given Wacha trouble.

TV: 7:15 p.m. ET, FOX

PITCHING MATCHUP: Cubs RH Donn Roach (2014: 1-0, 4.75 ERA) vs. Cardinals RH Michael Wacha (9-3, 2.85)

Roach pitched in 16 games with San Diego last season, including one start in which he allowed four runs and four hits in three innings. The 25-year-old has fared well as a starter at Triple-A Iowa this season, going 7-1 with a 2.29 ERA in 14 outings. The Las Vegas native pitches to contact and counts on his sinker to induce ground-ball outs.

Wacha has enjoyed a terrific campaign thus far but has hit some bumps in the road of late, failing to record quality starts in three of his last five turns. The 23-year-old endured his worst outing of the season last time out, allowing five runs and eight hits over five innings in a loss at Philadelphia. Wacha is 2-1 with a 3.20 ERA in five games (four starts) versus the Cubs.

WALK-OFFS

1. Friday's loss dropped the Cubs to 27-1 when leading after seven innings and 18-13 in one-run games.

2. 2B Kolten Wong recorded two of the Cardinals' six hits Friday and is 9-for-23 in seven games versus the Cubs this season.

3. The Cardinals have scored 44 runs in the eighth inning this season, their most in any frame.

Preview: Indians at Orioles

GAME: Cleveland Indians (33-39) at Baltimore Orioles (39-34)
DATE/TIME: Saturday, June 27 - 7:15 PM EST
WHERE: Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Baltimore, Maryland
LINE: 117, -127 TOTAL: 8.5

The Baltimore Orioles opened the month with three straight losses but they have been on a roll since, winning 16 of their last 21 contests to move a season-high five games over .500. The surging Orioles are 8-1 at home in June following Friday's 4-3 victory over Cleveland and look to continue the momentum Saturday night against the visiting Indians.

Baltimore shortstop J.J. Hardy homered for the first time since May 15 in the series opener and is 7-for-21 with six RBIs over his last five games. Designated hitter Jimmy Paredes is 11-for-21 during a five-game hitting streak and has multiple hits in each of his last four contests while Chris Davis ran his hitting streak to six games with a game-winning RBI single Friday night as the Orioles moved within a game of first-place Tampa Bay in the American League East. Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis is riding a 20-game hitting streak - the longest in the majors this season - and has hit safely in 39 of his last 43. Rookie Cody Anderson makes his second career start for Cleveland against struggling Orioles right-hander Chris Tillman.

TV: 7:15 p.m. ET, FOX

PITCHING MATCHUP: Indians RH Cody Anderson (0-0, 0.00 ERA) vs. Orioles RH Chris Tillman (5-7, 6.22)

Anderson did not factor in the decision despite turning in a stellar performance in his major-league debut against Tampa Bay on Sunday. The 24-year-old from California tossed 7 2/3 innings of scoreless ball, allowing six hits while striking out four and walking one. "Any time you're in a big stadium for the first time the adrenaline takes over and you don't get as fatigued," Anderson said of his longest outing as a professional.

Tillman appeared on the verge of reversing his early-season doldrums by winning three starts in a row, but the momentum came to a crashing halt in his last outing. Despite being staked to a 7-0 lead, Tillman lasted only 1 1/3 innings and was charged with six runs on six hits, including a pair of home runs. Tillman had one of his best starts versus Cleveland on June 5, earning the victory with 6 1/3 innings of two-run ball.

WALK-OFFS

1. Orioles LHP Zach Britton has recorded nine saves during the team's 16-5 tear.

2. Kipnis' hitting streak is the longest for Cleveland since Michael Brantley's 22-game string in 2012.

3. Orioles CF Adam Jones (shoulder) has missed eight of the past 10 games and a decision on whether to place him on the disabled list will be made Saturday.

Preview: Mariners at Angels

GAME: Seattle Mariners (34-40) at Los Angeles Angels (37-37)
DATE/TIME: Saturday, June 27 - 7:15 PM EST
WHERE: Angel Stadium of Anaheim, Anaheim, California
LINE: 143, -155 TOTAL: 7

The Los Angeles Angels attempt to continue the trend of their current homestand and post a victory when they take on the Seattle Mariners in the middle contest of their three-game series Saturday. Los Angeles has alternated wins and losses over the first four games of its string at home, capturing two of three against Houston before suffering a 3-1 loss to Seattle in Friday's series opener.

Mike Trout belted a solo homer in the first inning to open an early lead for the Angels, whose run output has decreased by one in every game of the homestand since beginning it with a 4-3 triumph. Brad Miller went 3-for-4 with an RBI and Robinson Cano launched a solo shot as the Mariners won for the third time in seven road contests. Seattle still is struggling to score runs as it was held below four for the fourth time in five games. The American League West rivals played two previous series this year, with the Mariners winning the first game and dropping the final two each time.

TV: 7:15 p.m. ET, FOX

PITCHING MATCHUP: Mariners LH J.A. Happ (3-4, 3.78 ERA) vs. Angels RH Garrett Richards (7-5, 3.66)

Happ's winless streak reached eight starts Sunday when he was saddled with the loss against Houston after allowing three runs - two earned - and seven hits in five innings. The 32-year-old, who hasn't won since May 9, is 0-3 during his drought despite yielding three runs or fewer on six occasions. Happ has had no success against the Angels in his career, losing each of his three starts while surrendering a total of 13 runs - 12 earned - over 11 frames for a 9.82 ERA.

Richards is coming off a loss at Oakland on Sunday in which he gave up three runs and eight hits over six innings. The 27-year-old had won his previous two starts, working seven frames in each while allowing totals of three runs - two earned - and eight hits. Richards remained at 3-2 in 14 career games (six starts) against Seattle after yielding one run over seven frames in a no-decision on May 5.

WALK-OFFS

1. The home run Friday by Trout, who collected three of the Angels' nine hits, ended his 12-game drought.

2. Seattle RHP Hisashi Iwakuma (lat muscle) is expected to make another rehab start for Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday.

3. Los Angeles RHP Huston Street is five saves away from 300 for his career.

Preview: Diamondbacks at Padres

GAME: Arizona Diamondbacks (35-38) at San Diego Padres (36-40)
DATE/TIME: Saturday, June 27 - 10:10 PM EST
WHERE: Petco Park, San Diego, California
LINE: 125, -135 TOTAL: 7

The Arizona Diamondbacks look to avoid a third straight loss when they visit the San Diego Padres on Saturday. One night after losing the rubber match of its three-game set at Colorado, Arizona dropped a 4-2 decision to San Diego in Friday's opener.

Paul Goldschmidt drove in the Diamondbacks' lone runs in the third inning with one of his team's two singles as Arizona fell to 1-3 on its six-game road trip. San Diego accomplished what Arizona will be attempting to with Friday's victory. Cory Spangenberg went 3-for-3 and scored twice while Yonder Alonso recorded two hits and an RBI as the Padres bounced back from a pair of losses at San Francisco in which they were outscored by a total of 19-8. San Diego and Arizona have played 10 times already this year, with the National League West rivals each registering five victories.

TV: 10:10 p.m. ET, MLBN, FSN Arizona, FSN San Diego

PITCHING MATCHUP: Diamondbacks RH Jeremy Hellickson (5-4, 4.94 ERA) vs. Padres RH Andrew Cashner (2-9, 4.35)

Hellickson will be making his fourth start of the season against San Diego and second in a row after allowing two runs and six hits over six innings in a victory Sunday. The 28-year-old exited that outing after tweaking his back during an at-bat but was cleared to take his turn Saturday as an MRI showed no damage. Hellickson, who had faced the Padres just once prior to this year, has yielded 12 runs over 17 1/3 frames en route to a 1-1 record in the previous three meetings in 2015.

After a strong first two months of the season, Cashner has struggled in June, allowing at least four runs in each of his five starts and seven on two occasions. One of those instances was at Arizona on Sunday, when the 28-year-old fell to 0-2 over his last five outings after giving up three earned runs in four innings. That setback dropped Cashner to 3-5 with a 3.27 ERA in 15 career games (11 starts) versus the Diamondbacks.

WALK-OFFS

1. The Padres have scored 52 first-inning runs this year, their highest total of any frame.

2. Arizona RHP Archie Bradley (shoulder tendinitis) will visit Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion.

3. Goldschmidt has collected seven RBIs over his last five games.

PREDICTION: Diamondbacks 4, Padres 3
