Great shot of Saturn at just the right angle ... the thin line in the front is the rings, on edge.

That first picture of the "horns" over the church has to be one of the coolest photos I've ever seen.

The clouds in Mexico come in a close second. I've never seen any thing like them.

One of the few pics I've found that rival the original post of this thread for sheer insane trippiness ... taken by Eric Nguyen in Kansas, this is not a Photoshop or mockup of any kind ...

Nice big shot from last year's Perseid shower.

If you're paying attention, this year's Perseids peak on the night of the 12th of August.

Love this thread, great stuff!

Is it true that Mars will be seen like a full moon around August 27?

Thanks for the compliments. I love this stuff.

Given Mars' distance and size I would not think it physically possible for it to appear with that kind of magnitude. There may be some sort of good Mars viewing coming up, but nothing on that scale.

Awesome supercell shot by Pierre-Paul Feyte:

Excellent stuff. :103631605 And to think that some people want to do away with the space program all together.

That picture of the clouds in Mexico is amazing. If people went outside and saw that in the sky, they would the end of the world was here.

Wow, I can't believe I managed to go three months without posting to this thread.

No pic today. Universe Today has released a free ebook entitled 365 Days of SKywatching that details the things to see year around, from most parts of the world. Pick it up here.
