Seahawks trading for Commanders QB Sam Howell, sources say.

The Seattle Seahawks are acquiring quarterback Sam Howell in a trade with the Washington Commanders, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Thursday.
Seattle will receive Howell, a fourth-round pick (No. 102 overall) and a sixth-rounder (No. 179) in exchange for picks in the third (No. 78) and fifth (No. 152) rounds, the sources told Schefter. The third-rounder the Seahawks are giving up is their own pick -- they have an extra pick in the third round via a trade with the Denver Broncos last April.
The trade for Howell, who started for Washington last season, solidifies the Seahawks' quarterback depth after Drew Lock agreed to sign with the New York Giants in free agency -- and it could mean competition for Geno Smith for the No. 1 job.
Smith and Howell are the only two quarterbacks on Seattle's roster.
21 TDs and 21 ints...but the touch at times pretty interesting.

Rams' Aaron Donald, 3-time DPOY, retiring from NFL at age 32.

Star Los Angeles Rams pass-rusher Aaron Donald, a three-time Defensive Player of the Year who has been selected to 10 Pro Bowls and was named a first team All-Pro eight times, announced his retirement from the NFL on Friday.
"Throughout my career, I have given my everything to football both mentally and physically -- 365 days a year was dedicated to becoming the best possible player I could be. I respected this game like no other and I'm blessed to be able to conclude my NFL career with the same franchise that drafted e. Not many people get drafted to a team, win a World Championship with that team and retire with that team. I do not, and will not, take that for granted," he said in a statement posted to social media.
Donald, 32, has 111 sacks in his career.
We are so grateful for Aaron's dedication to greatness and for leading our franchise on and off the field for the past decade," Rams Stan Kroenke said in a statement. "He has left his mark on generations of football fans and his accomplishments, coupled with his work ethic and passion, continue to inspire his teammates, coaches and athletes across the globe. It is a privilege to have witnessed one of the greatest players of all time and we are proud that Aaron Donald will forever be part of NFL history as a member of the Rams."

Rams signing Jimmy Garoppolo to one-year contract.

The Los Angeles Rams are signing quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a one-year contract to be Matthew Stafford's backup, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Friday.
The Las Vegas Raiders released Garoppolo on Wednesday, just one season after he signed a three-year, $72.75 million contract with the franchise.
He is suspended for the first two games of the 2024 season for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing drugs policy. The violation was said to be related to Garoppolo using a prescribed medication without having a valid therapeutic use exemption from the NFL, Schefter reported.
