first of all, if a corked bat doesn't help, why would sosa (or anybody else) do it - knowing full well they will get suspended if caught.

secondly, did brett really cork his bat or are you talking about the pine-tar incident? if he did cork his bat, how does the posting of his career stats prove or disprove your point?

The cork itself does'nt help but by making the bat lighter, enables the hitter greater bat speed causing the ball to be hit farther.

i know...that's the whole point. when they asked sosa about the bat he said it was his batting practice bat. he said he used it to "put on a show" for the fans during bp.

this just proves that the corked bat (which makes the bat lighter, ehancing batspeed) helps anyone hit the ball further. if it doesn't, why would he use it during bp for his "show"?
