TT and Pat,

You are just like the poor white man thinking he has more in common with the rich white man than with the poor black man.

Lol. Then you should like this woman:

Senator: Women should not vote

Bristol Herald Courier 9/29/01

The Associated Press

TOPEKA, Kan. — A female state senator says if women's suffrage were being voted on today she would not support it, because the 19th Amendment was the start of a decades-long erosion of family values.

“I'm an old-fashioned woman, Senator. Kay O’Connor told The Kansas City Star. “Men should take care of women, and if men were taking care of women (today) ‘we wouldn't have to vote.”

Delores Ftlrtado, co-president of the Johnson County League of Women Voters, had asked the 59 year-old Republican to the league’s “Celebrate the Right to Vote” luncheon, and O’Connor responded: “You probably wouldn't want me there because of what I would have to say.”

Furtado said she was shocked by O’Connor’s view. As a state senator, Furtado said, “she is the beneficiary of a system she doesn't support.”

O’Connor said she does vote. But she said she believes that if men had been protecting the best interests of women, then women would not be forced to cast ballots and serve in the Legislature. Instead, they could stay home, raise families and tend to domestic duties, she said.

The 19th amendment giving all U.S. women the right to vote was ratified in 1920. O’Connor said the amendment began a societal shift that eventually, encouraged women to trade homemaker roles for careers.

She said she entered the workplace only because of her daughter was ill [sic] and medical bills were mounting. O’Connor, of Olathe, was elected to the state House of Representatives in 1992 and won a Senate seat last year. She isn't worried if voters don't like her views.

“If I don't get re-elected, my only punishment is to go home to my husband and my roses and my children and my grandchildren,” she said. ~And if the trips to Topeka get to be too much and my husband asks me to quit, I would.”

Maybe O'Connor would like to go back to the days when it was legal and perfectly acceptable for a man to beat his wife....sadly to this day this is still common practice in parts of the US and certain areas of the world...

Perhaps she could inform us of the proper etiquette...does one blacken the left eye first or the right eye?

yuck. this truthteller guy's views are so utterly disgusting and bigoted. does anyone else think that he makes a fool out of himself when he types? it is just pure ignorance.

for your people's information, it was NOT that gay marriages were held to be illegal in the most recent ruling; it was that the mayor did not have the authority to permit such marriages. later in the year, when the supreme court rules in favor of gay marriages, hopefully the bigots and homophobes will finally have to suck it up.

xpanda,

That quiz was interesting. I only got half of it right according to them. #7 is clearly biased toward their line of thinking specifically part b. #9 is a little shady as well.

That being said, I have no problem with women working to support the family. In fact, if the woman thinks she can earn as much or more than I can, have at it. I would much rather raise the children so I could rest assured they were being reared as I see fit.

Moneybags....Yeah, it'd be nice to raise the children so they could be raised as you see fit..

...I'd hate to have children that grow up to be responsible adults and have thier own life, with thier own goals and doing what they feel makes themselves happy and having a life they feel is worth living....

I like the concept of gay marriage because it exposes the institution of marriage for the outdated horseshit that it is.

Marco,

If I didn't teach them the basics they would be more likely to be fvcked up by this valueless system. I've seen it time and again. I need not look further than my own family for evidence. You may be willing to potentially sacrifice your kids to the public schools but I am not. Please spare me the pep talk about how great the public schools are.

I guess I'm the only one that remembers the bad news. People declaring bankruptcy, junkies that destroy their lives and others and countless other examples of irresponsibility.

Disclaimer to above post:

Not all bankruptcies are a result of fiscal mismanagement but in my experience a good deal of them could be avoided with some discipline.

BAGS and XPANDA...Not sure if you detected it or not, but the LandoverBaptist site is a parody site, not 'real'.

Though the parody in this case is painfully similar to reality for Fundy Christians.

One of my favorite websites for sure...note the links to http://www.whitehouse.org another excellent site.

Bar: was sent the Landover link via a football board, and after doing the quiz myself (I am apparently an 'unsaved moron' ad nauseum) I noticed the 'Jesus Saves' thong banner ad. Kinda figured it was a joke by that time.

I can't think of anything more likely to kill a mood than Jesus' face on your gitch.

I can go 1 by 1 and counter point each of those quotes they put out of context on their site but it's not worth it. When they are selling merchandise like this it shows the level these idiots are at.

I bet Bar and Xpanda put that on their Xmas wish list.

I didn't notice it until it was pointed out. I have a habit of ignoring those ads as much as I can and I didn't explore the site after I took the quiz. It explains their positions somewhat.

If you're happy with your level of education and the quality of it then good for you. I happen to believe that children not educated in American public schools are, by and large, intellectually superior to their unlucky counterparts. Difference of opinion is all that is. In addition to supporting this piece of $hit system I pay $2600/semester plus expenses for the chance that my daughter might benefit. I'm not sure how much the public schools spend per student but I'd be willing to bet that it's more than what I pay for an arguably better education.

Don't just sit there and b!tch. Try to convince me that what you're saying has merit. You probably won't make much headway but others that are reading might get something out of it.
