Let me help you out, JGRIF

If someone (outside of the RRoom) writes, "Reggie Jackson is an obnoxious asshole", that's not a problem.

If someone writes, "JGRIF, you are an obnoxious asshole" and I see it, I'll edit out the personally profane flame.

Now perhaps you might be cool with someone dropping that on you within a sports discussion thread.

But most people are not. And therefore they respond with something like, "Fuck you, dickface motherfucker!" and within a few minutes the value of the sports discussion has been utterly waylaid.

I'm not the only one doing it.

The difference is that when most other Mods do it, they Delete the entire post, which I'm sure you've seen all over the site on a daily basis.

If the poster is not being unduly aggressive about the whole deal, I do what I did tonight, which is remove the profane personal flame and write, "go easy" or "unneeded flame" etc, while leaving the rest of the post which may be informative and/or express personal opinion without personal profane slams against other members.


The only persons that need to be concerned with my style on this are those who have a desire to write personally profane flames towards other members.

in my experiences at therx, i have never seen a policy where the mods edit out swear words against other posters unless it is excessive or over-the-top. Also, why are you the only mod that I see doing any of this?

Me neither. When you start to edit and delete posts things tend to go very bad.

WELL HELL reminiscing through this thread there is difficultly of cramping ones style out side the RR as there really is no RR to speak of any more.
