[h=2]Tony Finau def. Tommy Fleetwood 6&4[/h]How it happened: Every time you looked up on Sunday it seemed Finau was walking in a birdie putt. Through 10 holes, Finau was a stunning 5 up. Fleetwood was the star of the show over the first two days, posting a perfect 4-0 record alongside partner Francesco Molinari, and before the match started, this felt like a sure win for Europe. Finau didn't see it that way and won in a rout.

[h=2]Thorbjorn Olesen def. Jordan Spieth 5&4[/h]How it happened: Olesen had not hit a golf ball in competition since Friday morning. He sat out the afternoon session Friday and then both sessions Saturday, benched by countryman and captain Thomas Bjorn. All he did Sunday was pound Spieth, taking a 5 up lead through nine holes and then cruising on home. Spieth's puzzling issues in singles continues. He is now a combined 0-6 in singles between the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup.

[h=2]Jon Rahm def. Tiger Woods 2&1[/h]How it happened: Last week was memorable for Tiger Woods. This week was forgettable. After earning his first win in five years by capturing the Tour Championship, Woods went 0-4 at this Ryder Cup. He showed flashes Sunday -- there was an eagle and a big fist pump at No. 9 -- but there were too many mistakes. His short miss for par at No. 14 essentially locked up a winless week.

[h=2]Ian Poulter def. Dustin Johnson 2 up[/h]How it happened: Dustin Johnson rolled in a 60-footer for birdie at No. 11 for his first lead of the day. But Poulter has a way of getting things done in the Ryder Cup. He quickly won No. 13 and No. 14, the second with a classic Poulter chest thump. The loss was Johnson's first ever in Ryder Cup singles. He entered a perfect 3-0.

[h=2]Francesco Molinari def. Phil Mickelson 4&2[/h]How it happened: This outcome might have been the most predictable. Molinari was literally unbeatable, winning all five of his matches. Mickelson, meanwhile, went 0-2 over a miserable week in France. He tried to make a push Sunday, but he could never fully close the gap, not with Molinari continuing to make every clutch putt. Fittingly, it was Mickelson's tee shot at No. 16 that found the water that clinched the Ryder Cup for Europe.

[h=2]Henrik Stenson def. Bubba Watson 5&4[/h]How it happened: Bubba Watson has never won a Ryder Cup singles match. It wasn't happening Sunday, either. Stenson went up early and Watson could not figure out a way to catch him. Shortly after Molinari won his match to clinch the Cup, Stenson was able to join in the celebration.

[h=2]Sergio Garcia def. Rickie Fowler 2&1[/h]How it happened: Garcia was a controversial captain's pick, given his record over the past year. But there he was on Sunday, winning again at the Ryder Cup. Sunday's victory made him the winningest player in the history of the Ryder Cup with 25½ points. For Fowler, it was a struggle. In one stretch over the closing holes, Fowler had three consecutive swings that ended with a ball in the water.

[h=2]Patrick Reed def. Tyrrell Hatton 3&2[/h]How it happened: It took Captain America three days to show up, but there he was Sunday. Granted, it was a bit too late. The Cup had been decided by the time he put an American flag on the board. Reed turned a match that was all square through six holes into a 3-up lead after 11 and kept it there.

[h=2]Alex Noren def. Bryson DeChambeau 1 up[/h]How it happened: They were the last two on the course, tasked with the impossible -- try to continue playing a match that was meaningless in the big picture. Fittingly, Noren ended the match with a 30-footer for birdie to win it.

wasn't 0-9, Finau went 2-1

Gotta pick Woods, he was in form. No brainer. Mickelson was a ballsy pick. Furyk damn well knew (or should have known ) the course set up at Le Golf National. And he picks Phil ? Needed driving accuracy , a Ryan Moore (has ryder cup experience to boot) or a K Stanley. Both were in much better form than Phil as well.

hard to argue with DeChambeau pick - cmon, he has won twice in the last 5 weeks!!

given form and course set-up I think the club pro at Le Golf National could have handled Phil, lol

they couldn't set the line high enough in Phil's singles match; -250 for Molinari...@)......

Hopefully this is the last Ryder Cup we have to suffer watching stiffs like Phil, Bubba and Tiger play for the USA. Phil and Tiger huge egos that have been part of the reason we keep getting beat. I want young and hungry guys that want to win....like Thomas.

The Phil & Tiger era has been horrible for the USA and then you add in nice guys like Kuchar and Hunter Mahan and the likes and you can see why we don't win. Add Furyk to the old regime that stunk it up in his career.....now he can add being a loser as captain to his resume.

Don't make any of these guys captains or assistant captains...to afraid to make enemies. Should have a winner record to be a captain of the Ryder Cup team.

You are so clueless about this. Europe has just played better and made more putts. Phil and Tiger are stiffs? Very funny.

Good luck defending your comment.

Records speak for themselves: 13-21-4 and 18-22-7 stiffs at the Ryder Cup......this from arguably GOAT and the other considered one of the top players in history.

Give me someone less talented that cares about winning and I will take my chances.

You do realize that the records of Woods/ Mickelson except singles are with partners. Do you even play? Absurd to say the least.

I am an avid golfer and have won the club championship.....and you? Do you know anything about golf?

Just to make you look like you know even less about golf. Phil has a losing record in singles....any other good points you want to make?

Biggest reason Europe has done better is the courses they play for Ryder cup are courses they play all time on a regular basis.

some of Furyk's pairing decisions certainly were puzzling for sure. Easy to second guess, i get it...but

Watson and Simpson entered this Ryder with a combined 0-5 record in 4-somes. And he pairs them on the first day in foursomes. Why? They lose. Then he sends them back out in this same format for Saturday. They did win it. So 1-1, certainly not terrible . Nonetheless I think Bubba's greatest asset would be in 4balls (making birdies , using his length)-errand tee shots are not as penalized in 4 balls as you still got your teammate that can birdie or par

But for me, the biggest puzzling pairing was Phil/DeChambeau in 4 somes Friday afternoon. Ya got a rookie in Bryson whose temperamental and you pair him with a guy in poor form and happens to be 2nd from DEAD LAST IN % fairways hit? on THIS COURSE? .....weird.

with that said, all the other pairings were hard to argue. Fowler/Johnson? what's not to like? unfortunately DJ struggled with the putting friday afternoon and all of saturday. Fowler started to hit some wild shots, Furyk had to sit him for Saturday afternoon 4somes. Tiger/Captain America and Tiger/DeChambeau ; both looked good....on paper
