Well it pretty much goes without saying that almost all elected officials of note since the 1970s have been huge hypocrites on the topic of drug Prohibition - whether it be their own use or the active use of one or more family members.

Right on. And to buttress my final quip above, I would note that most Orthodox Christians profess that they regularly communicate with a person - Jesus Christ - who made the transition from this plane of existence. In fact, many build their conversations around discussing his inevitable "return".
